WOW! It has been one heck of a ride these past 24 hours or so. We have a lot of downed trees here in Richmond as well. Glad it is all OVER!
Michele, these photos show the true force of Hurricane Irene. Look at the huge roots of that tree peeping through the concrete sidewalks. Mother Nature is not to be taken lightly. Glad you're safe.
Hi Michele, That tree was completely uprooted by Irene, and I am glad that no one was injured from the falling tree. Glad to know you are safe and sound too.
Thanks for sharing your photographs. There were also a lot of big downed trees in Washington, DC. You can be sure that the trees in DC will not be removed as quickly as in New York.
Life is good!
Shannon, Kay, Jerry and Roy- Thanks for your comments and concern - in the spirit of full disclosure that tree is actually resting on my home here in East Flatbush , we are lucky that no one was walking by when it fell. The New York City parks department are doing a wonderful job regarding tree removal and clean up.
Wow! Now I know why you wrote what you did on my blog about the tree falling over! Too wet, too dry, doesn't matter. Extreme conditions will harm the environment, period. Thank God you were safe. My inlaws live in MA and CT - no electricty yet.
Michele - The storm is still being felt here in NJ. The waters have been going down slowly but at least we have our power back. Hope you did alright through this terrible storm
OMGosh Michele, that tree was so big and old! How sad to lose all that shade! I'm glad you didn't have more problems than you did!
Love the title of your post!
It is sad that the tree is gone but I am glad no one was hurt!!!!!
