Photoblog Sunday - My Son with the Father of the Forest! (Big Basin, CA)

By
Real Estate Agent with Chris Alston (Keller Williams Realty, Silicon Valley, California) 01338415

Camping and hiking at Big Basin Redwood State Park, in California.  One of the few Old Growth forest that still exist out here in California...  Most of the forests were cut during the boom times in California's history.

Big Basin

One of the hikes we took, guided us through some of the beasts that exist here.  This tree that my son is standing next to was called "The Father of the Forest"...  It stands over 250 tall, and is still not the tallest, as the Mother of the Forest stands over 329 feet tall!

We climbed, hiked, explored, and took pictures on our way to a good day!

Chris, what an amazing tree, and I like how the sun was at just the right angle to "spotlight" your son!!  Great memories he will have of this time spent with you. :)

Chris, that is absolutely amazing!  I cannot even fathom to begin to understand just how tall that really is.  I'm trying to think in heights of stories of a building.  Wonderful photo.  Sure makes us humans seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Chris, when living in California in the '60's, I went to Big Basin and saw this very tree. Awesome photo!

Chris, Wow, that is an incredible tree - 250 feet tall and still not the tallest - amazing. I bet this is a wonderful place to visit to take in the beauty all around you.  Nothing better than father and son bonding.  You are carving out priceless memories with your son.

Old-growth forests are so beautiful, but when it comes to the almighty dollar, the dollar often wins.

Did your son get to climb the tree? lol

Chris, I have never seen a tree that big! I would love to take a road trip and experience the Mother & Father of the Forest for myself...Thanks for sharing, seeing your son by the tree gives me some perspective of how huge this tree really is.
