NO ONE BUYS A HOUSE AT CHRISTMAS, RIGHT?

 

            Conventional wisdom says that the holiday season is the worst time to try to sell (or buy) a home.  Conventional wisdom is wrong in the case of real estate.  While home sales usually slow down from November until January, they certainly do not stop.  During this period it is not at all unusual for a half-million homes to be sold nationwide. 

            Who buys homes during this period?   Buyers, not lookers!  These buyers tend to be without children and looking to "move up".  This is especially good news for sellers of high-end market homes.  Buyers during this period include job transferees, military personnel, physicians who need to relocate, those who have no other time to look for a new home, those who are not involved in the holiday rush, and those who are simply in a holiday mood!

          So don't think the holiday season spells the end of the home-selling season--the most wonderful holiday gift of all may be the deed to a new home.

Hi Tony,  Yes... December can be a good sales month.  I currently have two homes (one high end, one low end) and one lot pending... and picked up two new buyers this week.  The new buyers are mid range. They're both anxious to buy as soon as possible.  You are right, those out looking at homes now are serious buyers!

I always seem to have a end of the year push.. The buyers and less but those that are in the market are more serious.

Also, since i am in FL I have a lot of "family" that get tired of hanging out with their"family" so they get in their car and call about homes for sale.

last x-mas I had 3 sign calls.
