Today President Obama nominated Alan Krueger to head the Council of Economic Advisors. Didn't realize we still had one.

Either the Council is totally inept, or the President is disregarding everything they say. Either way, we can do without it and save some money.

The Senate, instead of confirming Krueger's nomination should mothball the whole agency.

According to a White House press release, the Council is charged with delivering economic advice to the President on formulation of domestic and international economic policy. The release goes on to say that Council bases its recommendations about what will do the most good for the country on economic research and empirical evidence and not what's best for a political party or special interest.

That's good. Certainly wouldn't want the oil industry to take credit for creating hundreds of thousands of jobs by an aggressive oil and natural gas exploration and refining strategy.

Obviously the Council has recommended to the President that he scrap the EPA regulations on small businesses, that the ban on incandescent bulbs is a mistake, that real teeth should be put into the existing legislation that bans hiring of illegals, that the corporate income tax be drastically reduced, that card check should be shelved and never mentioned again, that cap and trade is horrible for business and should be withdrawn, and that the new health care program is already stifling business growth and expansion - among other equally astute observations.

What's that? That's not what they do? Then, like I said at the beginning, scrap the Council.

Didn't you listen to his speech last week? He said he was going to create jobs in the United States. I just didn't realize that he was going to do it one government job at a time.

He is creating jobs, he is creating the Department of Jobs, that will employee a couple hundred of his cronies.

Oh, you want jobs for the unwashed masses? Not his problem, only the elite understand him and deserve his support.

Todd,

He can't create any jobs. Not only is it not in his job description, he has no clue anyway. :)

Than,

Any new cabinet department would come with a minimum of 10,000 free-loading government jobs I would think. :)

Steve,

This is only relevant because we still linger in disbelief that an entire administration could be dedicated to the destruction of America as we know it.

There are only three kinds of jobs that matter to the adminstration goverment jobs, exported jobs. and those attracting invaders.

Bill,

And "organizers" as long as they aren't Tea Party oriented. :)

Last year (2010) when he got back from Martha's Vineyard, the Grand Imam was going to deliver a jobs plan.

This year (2011) when he gets back from Martha's Vineyard, the Grand Imam is going to deliver a jobs plan.

No doubt, solid advice both years.

The best jobs plan would be for the Grand Imam to stay in Martha's Vineyard, set out his rug, face east, and pray until Jan 2013.  Between now and then, leave us alone.

Mike,

Labor is one of the reasons we're in the mess we are in. :)
