Kentlands Flower Photographs by Roy Kelley, Saturday, 9/3/11

One of the very nice things about living in Montgomery County, Maryland is that there are always places to go and things to do.  Last night, Dolores and I attended the opening reception of the 41st Annual Labor Day Art Show at Glen Echo Park. The show is sponsored by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture.  The exhibition features the work of more than 250 artists from the mid-Atlantic region. The show and sale will be open over the weekend from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day and admission is free.

If you have photographs from your favorite places, please share them in the comments for this post. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Hi Roy~ What a great way to start my Saturday! I always try to choose my favorite flower photo, and today, I think the one with thorny stem is a remarkable example of contrast.

Best regards from Seattle,

Good Saturday afternoon to all. Thanks, Kristine, for the frame up and thanks, Kathy, for sharing your tall trees photograph.  I watched some of the Kentlands and Lakelands 5K race this morning and visited some of the exhibits before stopping at the farmers market.  1,500+ runners and walkers had good weather for the race.  The rain moved in after the race was finished.

Life is better when there are flowers to photograph.

You certainly have some beautiful flowers in Maryland.

I don't get to photograph flowers a lot but, here's a beautiful hibiscus photo I took at White Oak Park in Cary, NC.

Thanks, Carla, for stopping by and thank you very much for the beautiful photograph. Just this morning, I took some pictures of hibiscus blooms in our community.

North Carolina is one the favorite destinations for Maryland retirees.

Hi Roy,

As usual, your pictures are just spectacular and do not even look real as they are so perfect. I think I love the deer photo the most as I am a nature fan.

My favorite place is Alaska. This one was taken last year in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Have a nice weekend. I heard a rumor that you just passed 400,000 points. Congrats.

Roy,

I thought you were on a pink and purple theme - until the orange, the white, and the deer. Excellent work. :)
