My biggest challenge was climbing a hill on the road for 45 minutes straight at an 8+ percent grade. Not being one to love climbing hills on a bike, it was great to have made it up with energy to spare.
The easiest most scenic hike was Mt Rose trailhead to the waterfall which was gushing in August! There was even snow on the trail!
Best dirt bike trail I’ve taken was the jump trail though a meadow of donkey ears up a fireroad and down the roller coaster of jumps, over by the Tahoe cross country ski center in Tahoe city.
Most amazing hike was above Donner lake through the old railroads, up around the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) to the Mt Judah loop, all single track through the trees, except when we hit the backside and had to climb straight up a rocky part of the trail since the rest of it was blocked by snow! I got vertigo on the way up but did it!
Best solo ride was twice around lake Donner which is 20 miles RT, super fun, great views of the lake, few cars, and only one short hill.
Kayaking on Donner is a great way to spend the day!
