Is Presentation Everything?

By

Well, no it's not but it does have a lot to do with getting you into a door. They say you have to open the door of opportunity if opportunity knocks.

Do you hear it knocking?presentation in Real Estate If you do and you have not yet perfected your presentation in Real Estate, maybe now is the time to do it. How are you presenting yourself?

As a Listing Agent/Buyer's Agent? A Listing Agent only or a Buyer's Agent only? Those questions are up to you.

My question is: Are you presenting yourself properly and to the best of your ability?

I had a lesson in presentation tonight.

It all started with a small intimate dinner party.

I roasted a Pork Loin. What does this have to do with presentation in Real Estate? Just listen. Along with the Pork Loin I was serving sweet mixed veggies, Au Grautin Potatoes and a Pork Gravy. Yum, right? Yes it was yummy.

When I went to make the gravy, I accidentally poured much too much pepper in by mistake. Now, I could have panicked but I didn't. I couldn't. I did not have any more of the ingredients to make the gravy and that was it.

As we sat at the table, I announced that I made a recipe of Peppered Pork Gravy and that if they didn't like pepper, not to eat any. Long story short, they loved it. It was the hit of the dinner party. They told me it was "bold" and delicious! And, they were glad to have tried something different.

So, in your Real Estate Presentation...be different. Be bold. Be unique. You will win most of the time and will lose some of the time but they will always remember you!

And Deb, people do remember your presentation as well, if it is grand, or if you fall flat on your face.

Your Listing Presentation is what makes the client realize that you put a lot of thought into your research before coming to them. This gives you more credibility.

I love showing off a new dish to folks cause I love to cook and many don't have a clue as to the crazy stuff I make. HA! But many times they end up liking it. It's ok to step out of the box and get a little bold. It may pay off big time! :)

Rose, Thank You! I pulled it off last night. Confidence!

John, A Rhino huh? I don't ever see you standing with the herd. You are one of a kind!

Jane, Honesty is always best! Good thing is...I don't lie at all. I couldn't sleep or look people in the eyes if I did. It just goes against my nature. For you too I imagine.

Marc and Carey, It was really sparky! But, it worked. Everyone turned out happy.

Anna, I would have LOVED TO HAVE HAD YOU THERE!

Marco, you would have liked it too. Maybe I should publish a recipe!

Andrea! Thank you for PA Feature! When I dumped the pepper in accidentally I decided that it was just a little thing. I think if we do that more in life we would all live longer.

Paula, and going on a sneezing spree. I left the kitchen for all that! LOL

Kim, it turned out to be a great dinner! Yea! All we can do is to keep rolling with it!

Donna, good thing....really.

Debb, that's about the sweetest thing you could have said. Have I mentioned today how awesome you are?

Peter and Linda, that is the ultimate compliment from you Pfantastic folks!

Craig, I would love to view one of your presentation packages...do you put a picture of your client's heads on another person standing over a Sold sign? You ought to incorporate some of your photo shop. They would certainly remember that one!

Gary, yep. I hate when that happens...

Gabrielle, it's like the first impression. It does make a tremendous difference. Thank you.

Tammy~I would love to try some of your dishes. Especially if they are different! Love it.

Deb,

Far too many agents have the same presentation on their laptops. I don't bring in a laptop at all.

Thank you Sally! Motivation gets tougher and tougher these days. It does us no good to keep trying!

Brian, I don't either. I like eye to eye contact and leave them with the stats to review. Good choice!

Can I come to your house for dinner? But, seriously, you make a very good point and the lesson applies to so many situations that we encounter on a regular basis.

O that sounds so good! I always put alot of pepper in my gravy anyway! It is definately a glass half full or half empty thing and generally you have alot of sway on which way that goes so you might as well make it positive!

Deb - That was a great way to turn a possible disaster in to a big win.  I agree that standing out in our presentations makes sense.

Deb that was a bold move with the pepper - glad it turned out ok! Since we all like to be different, making application of this suggestion in our real estate practices should be a breeze for most. Thanks for sharing this.

Sometimes the best discoveries are mistakes. Bet there are a few Explorers in history that stumbled upon a few great places. They just did not have cameras and PowerPoint and videos to present the discoveries once they returned. We have them and pepper, too...chuckle.
