Tuesday’s Tip #38: Set Your Property Apart

What makes Apple customers go back to them over and over again? Is it the genius bar? Is it the user-friendly systems? Is it how trendy it all is? All of the above?

What about BD’s Mongolian BBQ? Is it the shirts that say “We do it on a grill.”? Is it the bell you ring when you give the grill cooks a tip? Is it all of the choices they offer? All of the above?

When you’re purchasing a product or service, what makes you want to go back to the company you originally purchased from? Is it their great customer service? Is it their one of a kind product? Or is it all of the above?

There’s not much you can do about a slow real estate market. It is what it is. There’s not much you can do about your neighbor's house. It’s theirs, and your opinion about it means very little. There’s not much you can do about the traffic through the neighborhood that will immediately affect your ability to sell or rent your property.

But, there is something you can do about the overgrown hedges in the front yard. You can add new appliances to make the kitchen look a little bit more clean and crisp and appealing. You can add new light fixtures throughout to brighten up the house and add a more sophisticated or traditional look. You can offer to have the house cleaned once a month at your own cost to ensure you get and keep good tenants. You can send over a Christmas card with a gift card to a local restaurant or store to make sure you keep a tenant who is regularly on time with payments.

What would set your home apart from the rest? What would make someone choose the place you’re selling or renting over the others around it?

Today’s real estate market requires you to be creative. What are you going to do about it?

Tuesday’s Tip: You don't have to be a genius to "do it on a grill" or to set your property apart. Use a little creativity.

Great blog, more people need to do more to set themselves apart.  Me, I just get out there and hit the streets every day.
