Natural Science Center, Greensboro, NC, Things to Do in GreensboroWhen is the last time you petted a 5-foot long albino black rat snake or an adorable hedgehog or ferret?   If it has been a while, it may be time for a visit to Greensboro's own Natural Science Center.  This wonderful, hands-on learning mecca is chock full of things to see and do that are so entertaining, your children won't even realize they are learning!

Located at 4301 Lawndale Drive in Greensboro, the Natural Science Center is a must-see attraction for anyone with children.

Natural Science Center, Greensboro, NC, Things to Do in GreensboroThe Natural Science Center offers a multitude of opportunities to get up-close-and-personal with the many animals who call the Greensboro Natural Science Center home.  Our favorite spot is the Animal Discovery Zoological Park.  Inside the Discovery House, you can pet ferrets, rabbits, and other animals.  Just outside the door of the Discovery House, there is a meerkat colony where these expressive, animated and inquisitive bundles of energy look like an episode of Meerkat Manor.  The outside zoo also features tigers, tortoises, monkeys and lemurs plus many more.

Inside the main building at the Natural Science Center, there are also many hands-on learning activities, such as the Dinosaur Gallery and Kids Alley.  Throughout the day, live shows are scheduled, including our favorite, "Meal or No Meal", which gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about animal diets in a game show format.

On the lower level of the NaturaNatural Science Center, Greensboro, NC, Things to Do in Greensborol Science Center, there are more opportunities to touch the animals.  This lovely snake is in the Herpetology Lab, along with turtles, iguanas and other snakes.  Just down the hall, the Aquatic Discovery Room has various sea creatures.

The Natural Science Center offers summer camps and birthday parties.  You can pay for admission each time you go or purchase an annual membership, which will allow you free admission for one year.  This membership also includes reciprocal admission to over 300 science museums nationwide.   There are changing exhibits which sometimes have an extra entry charge, such as Bodies and The Titantic.
