The Napa Valley is arguably one of the top 5 places to visit in California. If it were me, I'd say it was in the top three (next to Disneyland and San Francisco). It's very connected to the earth and it's agriculture. Watching the vines begin from a tiny sprout in March, to turn into golden-amber fields in October is exciting. The locals take great pride in their grapes, and the community is very tight with a small town atmosphere.
With the rich lush land, and abundance of fruit you can only guess the community likes to gather to celebrate, and what better time then the crushing of the grapes. It is our yearly ritual, a way to thank the earth for it's gifts, and an exciting time to try out all the new wines that the wineries are so eager to get out. We love our wine! October is, by far, the best time of year to visit the Napa Valley.
Not only is a great place to visit, it's an even better place to live. With seasonal fruit sold on corners, farmers markets, chefs markets (don't even get me started on the food), Mustard Festivals, chili cook-offs, downtown on the 4th of July, there is always something going on. Just look at this calendar for September alone: http://napavalley.com/special_interest/current_events/sep.html
Napa is in it's own bubble, the economy hasn't hit us as hard as other places, though housing prices are still on a slow downward spiral. We've actually just received a wonderful little resort condo listing in the re-noun Silverado Country Club: http://searchallproperties.com/listings/779520/1600-ATLAS-PEAK-RD-NAPA-CA. A great investment for someone who needs a get-a-way and loves to play golf. Unfortunately it's owner has to short sell it.
So, if your coming to California, or you live here, come up and visit! Our office is located in the heart of down, and we're always open for a good friendly conversation. Hope to see you soon!
Best of luck to you all!
Love,
Windermere's Lesti Team
