AMADOR COUNTY REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL MICHAEL I. PULSKAMP, OF MAIN STREET BROKERS, CERTIFIED TO ADDRESS AND ENCOURAGE THE BENEFITS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND GREEN FEATURES IN HOMES
Amador County, California – October 23, 2007 – Michael I. Pulskamp, of Main Street Brokers in Jackson has earned the EcoBroker Certified® designation, having successfully completed a unique and informative training program on the energy and environmental issues that affect real estate transactions. With national surveys indicating that 80% of consumers consider themselves “green-minded,” real estate professionals with the EcoBroker designation are in a better position to serve the real estate consumer. “I’m always looking for ways to offer my clients the best value. My EcoBroker training helps me ensure customer satisfaction, my number one priority,”
Michael explains. “From moisture control to limit the opportunity for mold growth in the spring to ideas on shade trees that can keep you cool in the summer to windows that can help you save money on energy in the changeable weather of fall, even information on cheaper ways to stay warm in the winter, I now have more resources at my disposal to help my buyers and sellers make better real estate decisions. The EcoBroker designation doesn’t make me an energy and environmental expert, but it allows me to better understand the issues and to convey this understanding to my buyers and sellers.”
The EcoBroker designation program is designed for real estate professionals who care about the environment and want to help their clients benefit from the money saving, energy-efficient, “green,” and healthier features of homes and buildings. EcoBroker provides a complete curriculum of energy and environmental training to licensed real estate agents. Real estate professionals must complete the extensive EcoBroker curriculum and training and fulfill additional program requirements to become Certified EcoBrokers®. “Michael is an example of the quality real estate professional the EcoBroker designation continues to attract,” explains EcoBroker International’s CEO, Dr. John Beldock. “These real estate professionals are not only distinguishing themselves in a competitive market place, but they are really giving back to the community in very constructive and meaningful ways. Amador County needs more contributors like Michael. The planet and our grandchildren need them too,” Dr. Beldock said.
From his Jackson office, Michael explains, “With EcoBroker® training, I have broadened the range of real estate opportunities I can offer my clients. Whether the transaction involves environmental assessment, such as well water quality, or mitigation (mold, radon, historic contamination, etc.) or the opportunity to reduce utility bills, I’m in a position to help. The real estate industry is changing, and to best serve my clients I need to understand the newest designs, technologies, and environmental issues. My EcoBroker designation helps me and my clients stay ahead of the game.”
NAR does not recognize it yet... But it does count for C.E. with CA. D.R.E. I was very happy with the training, three classes, that if you just crammed to pass might fit in six hours each (that is the DRE credit) but that each have weeks worth of study material. Very good stuff, I was worried before I "jumped in" that it was going to be either just warm fuzzy hippie stuff, or green-washing by builder industry groups. I was surprised from the get-go. Very thought provoking and useful information and strategies. Mostly CYA, networking, and being the source of the source, with tons of "here, look at this for more info". I would recommend this designation.
Michael - Thank you for the response. I read about the Eco-Broker from Tony Marriott a few months back, but have not heard much about it since. I would have to travel to the mainland to take the classes. I may try for it next year. I am not aware of any agents in my area with it.
Randy, No need to travel you can take the classes at home and on-line! Here is the link; EcoBroker. The fact that this is still a rare designation gives us and easy way to differentiate ourselves. I think that this subject matter is getting more and more generally important to people both buyers that want healthy and efficient homes, and sellers that are always looking for a way to show the benefits of the house that they are selling. Just the points to negotiate over that these classes covers could change the way many of us do business.
Thank you for the follow up. The designation is interesting to me. I like differentiating from the pack and being on an island we are a natural location for utilizing those skills.
I looked up on the website and found only 2 Eco-brokers in Honolulu and 2 in Maui. That would definitely put me in with a select few.
Just a few pages into the program and you will see that this designation is destined to get the respect and recognition that it deserves. EcoBroker is full of great helpful needed tools and ideas. Not just a great chance to be early adopters.
