The Video Revolution...

The Video Revolution...
The video revolution has started. There is a growing need for this media, however supply is not meeting the demand. The stats on the video I have presented is but the tip of the ice burg. Video is not nor will it be a passing fad. Sadly, when it comes to technology, the real estate industry as a whole is still years behind when it comes to online marketing, especially the use of video and e-commerce.
Most of this is due to lack of education and fear. My goal over the next few weeks is to demystify this thing called video so the industry as a whole can and will embrace this powerful marketing media.
For some, stats are about as much fun as a sharp stick in the eye. My goal is to inform and educate while being entertaining and intimate.

The video revolution has started. Are you ready to embrace it?

Michael - I also loved the video and the music.  I agree with you - video is where we need to be.  By the way, what program did you use to create the video here?  Almost looks like powerpoint.  Thanks!

Yes, Michael...VIDEO is where it's at !!   I'm in the mortgage business in Orange Co. California & have been going through an awesome video training program that's available to me through a national marketing group I belong to.  When I'm done and can create my own video's I'm going to be sharing my knowledge with my realtor partners & helping them get on board!!  It's so exciting to have something new & innovative to use.

I agree with several of the others....a power point presentation is not video..video's should have people in them that are engaging with the listner!!

Nestor & Katerina, I generally use "Royalty Free" music as well. Yes, I was flagged by YouTube as this is owned by "Orchard Music". However, I was not asked to remove it as in the credits, I cited Music By: If Orchard Music complains, I will remove the video from YouTube.

Such an easy thing to do and so many are still not doing it.  If you have access to your website HTML code, it is too easy to insert a video.  Tons of people can help, just ask your kids.  They can fix it up for you.

If you have the program Garage band you can put together a little tune for your video free of charge or you could use one of the tunes they have on their sample list.

Video is so easy nowadays!  Heck, you can even use tools like Animoto if you don't want to to take real video but rather just upload your still shots and let the software do the rest.  It's such a great tool for listings, but also for SEO when you take advantage of YouTube and RealBird.

Michael- Thanks for the email and the answer. They removed my grandfather's eulogy because it had music in it that my family members did not have permission to use, just his favorite songs during his life. I have been super careful with any commercial style videos with this issue, that was just a family issue. Katerina

Good evening, Katerina. That's a shame, but I can understand. As I stated, music licensing is getting so touchy due to piracy. I feel it is important to cite the artist but even then, there are no guarantees...

Great video and love the stats. I have heard from internet marketers that video is the way to go, but they gave no stats!

Great job on the video Micheal.  We have used video (quite infrequently, admittedly) for some listings and they have produced impressive results.

I myself have little knowledge of producing video, so it will be great to learn.

Michael,

Loved your video and you're right I know.  It is just one of those things I'll have to make myself do as it's not real comfortable to me at this point.

Thanks for the pep talk video!:)

You are so right! Video is here to stay and now that Goole owns Youtube, no doubt we'll see more and more videos online.  I'm making videos of my listings now, though I've not been video blogging just yet (I hate the thought of being on camera!).  It really bugs me that property 'tours' in the MLS are nothing but slide shows of the static photos that are alread available there. Time to get on the band wagon!

Mike, ya know I love ya BUT .... where did you get those stats? If it is from NAR they are either made up or flawed by a broken calculator.

I'll start working on it, thanks for the kick in the pants I guess, but double check those stats!
