The Kennedy Center is turning 40 this year (Happy Birthday!) and to celebrate this achievement they are giving away 1200 tickets! Starting this morning at 10 am, people can register online at http://www.kennedy-center.org/offers/40th/ to win free tickets to performances during the 2011-2012 season. The goal to reach more military families and people under 30. Although this is target audience this giveway is open to everyone. When you register you can specify the genre that interests you the most however since the tickets are given away on random basis there is not guarantee of which tickets you will win.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts broke ground on December 2, 1964 and opened its doors on September 5, 1971. It is made of three main theatres the Concert Hall, Opera House and the Eisenhower Theatre and it is also comprised of 5 or so smaller theatres. One of the main attractions is the Grand Foyer. It has an incredible bust of President John F. Kennedy.
If you are planning on visiting Washington, DC , the Kennedy Center is a must see attraction even if you do not have tickets to any shows. They have free tours everyweek day fom 10am - 5pm starting every 10 minutes and on the weekends from 10am-1pm. When you visit make sure you go up to the Rooftop Terrace there breathtaking and amazing views of the Potomac River, Georgetown and Arlington, Virgina.
