The Calm After The Storm - Post Irene

The only good thing about a hurricane is that it eventually passes. Here in The Pinehills, we were fortunate not to suffer any major consequences from Irene. She chose a path further to our west and we were spared most of the heavy rainfall and damaging winds.

There was very little damage in Winslowe's View and Rebecca's Landing, and we lost power for a day and a half. Thankfully, Irene was an inconvenience, not much more.

Me personally, I have a few trees that need to be removed and this one is going to be a little tricky. Not sure how we are going to remove this without damaging the dog kennel. Luckily no damage to family, pets, home, cars or boat. Phew!

Hurricane Irene Tree Damage by Judy Jennings

We are now experiencing the most amazing weather conditions. Does anyone know why perfect weather generally follows a storm of this nature?

Sounds like we had a similar Irene experience.  Not much to talk about here in Portsmouth except strong rain and wind.  I live in the woods and was quite relieved not to have any trees fall.

Sharon - Glad you made it through with no major problems. Some of our neighboring areas were not so fortunate. I watched the news in horror as they showed the devestation in parts of CT, and VT. Hope Katia blows out to sea!

Judy,

Glad to hear that you got through relatively unscathed.

As for your weather question, intuition tells me that it has something to do with energy attracting like-energy.  Irene was relativley large.  At the nearby low-pressure fronts got sucked into Irene.  Once she passed, it was all calm, high-pressure weather until apparently; Labor Day.
