RYLA- Rotary Youth Leadership Award- camp is held in May/June
our club will sponsor three high school juniors to attend
International Youth Exchange- looking for host families
Rotaract- college and university arm of Rotary-
we're actively trying to restart the program at Rancho Santiago

Club Service- Craig Beinlich Chair
Craig reported on our donation of native trees to the Boy Scouts and
our acquisition of new trees for the tree farm

International Service- Jay Applebaum Chair
Jay went through the upcoming projects for the year which include:
- continued support for our troops with "Operation A Bit of Home"
monies are allotted to help defray shipping costs ($1000)
- Back Packs for Tecate orphanages- unfortunately with the passing of our
good friend Alex Mora last year we are looking to find someone who
can be our liaison in Tecate. We will continue to pursue this in the coming
months.($1000)s
- "Books for The World" this is the project that was recently presented to our
club by Nev Roseman- We hope to collect at least 2 pallets of books to
send to Africa- ($500)
- Joint Projects with Orange North Rotary:
Caborca, Mexico Playground- ($1000)
Ensenada, Mexico- Water Systems for 5 schools ($1000)
Ciudad Delicias, Mexico- computer lab for "Carlos Blake"
elementary school ($1000)
Chile Chico, Chile- educational/health project ($1000)
Also opportunities for Villa Park Rotarians to do hands-on
polio vaccinations in Caborca, Mexico
Operation of Hope- surgical correction of facial deformities in Zimbabwe
($1000)

Community Service- Jill Kuli Chair
Jill informed us of upcoming programs:
- Villa Park Rotary will be acknowledged in the Villa Park 50th Anniversary
Celebration- with Rotary Seals on all invitations/ mailings
- Jill also reported that our community shred day and Ewaste days
generated revenues or donations totalling $600 and $1100 respectively
- Marines at Thanksgiving
- Ronald McDonald monthly dinners
- Meals on Wheels
- Project Hope- Donation of Phys-ed equipment, Science Camp Support
and Juice Pops
- Camp to Belong
- Mail Train for the Troops
-Boy Scout Eagle Project grants of $500
- Beverly House- Purse Project - for young girls beyond foster care age
- Working Wardrobes- Bring gently used clothes to Jill
-$500 Fund to assist IraQ/Afghan War vets
Set aside September 17th - Shred Day..the sequel.
Total Proposed Budget: $6900.
Vocational Service- Bob Bell and George Poulos Co-Chairs
Bob and George have been visiting our local schools to ensure continuity
of previous projects.
New Members joining their committee include:
Dan Friedl, Will Warren and Ed Carter

President Bryan Nash took an opportunity to thank our Sgt at Arms Eric Sense
Budget; Milt Stamos Treasurer
Milt says we have lots of money- 2010-2011 Income totalled $72,004.00
Happy Bucks:
Ken Caplin - Orange North will be selling Corn on the Cob at this weekends Orange
Street Fair- he hopes to sell 9000 ears of corn- come out and say hi as you munch
your way around the Orange Oval. The corn is delicious!!
Tom Grundy - joked that he is switching all his business finances to Milt Stamos after
Milt gave his very brief "don't worry we have lots of money" budget report.
Jay Lieberman- congratulated new members Dan Friedl and Dale Dagley
He also wanted us to know that the Anaheim Hills Rotary Club is holding a
candle-light ceremony in remembrance of 9/11 next Sunday at the corner
of Canyon and Serrano Blvds. Time to be announced in a later email.
Jane McDonald- is collecting wool blankets and towels for Mercy House to help
homeless veterans. Contact Jane with donations.
Jim Brodsky- reminded us that there will be a 9/11 Car Show at Villa Park High
His son Jake just turned 22 and Jim and Cathy will be celebrating an upcoming
anniversary on Catalina where they first met.
Bob Kreisberg- announced that tonight is the first night of class at Cal State Fullerton's
Entrepreneurship Program. They are still looking for coaches and companies that
would like to participate in the program.
Ed Howard- VPHS Principal was impressed that all Bob Bell remembered from his visit to the
school was the pretty vice principal. He was also happy to announce that the API
score(Academic Performance Index) is the highest its been. Tonight also begins the
Football season and the average GPA of the starting line-up is 3.97. There was also
an article in today's Register Sports Section on one of the players who has a very
high GPA of 4.8 and is planning on becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon.
Steven Pollack told the saga of his left pelvic fracture last Friday while riding his mountain bike.
He was plucked out the hills by helicopter and transported to Chapman Medical Center.
He can't wait to get back on the bike.
Lesslie Giacobbi- today's birthday girl reminded us to bring in a bottle of wine for the upcoming
October Fundraiser- try Wayne's, Bev Mo and keep the price around $15.

This year's fundraiser " A Magical Evening of Giving" will be on October 6 at the Anaheim Hills
Golf Course Clubhouse. Check in will begin at 5:30 PM and the event begins at ^PM
-Tickets are $75 each
- following check-in each attendee/couple will get a free 5x7 photo to remember the evening

Our sit-down Dinner will feature a Spinach Leaf Salad with Cornbread, Roast Chicken with Stuffing accompanied by mashed potatoes and green beans almondine. Apple Pie dessert will follow.
Entertainment will be provided by Mike Chamberlin on Guitar and strolling magicians performing
table magic.
Jane announced we will be having a meeting of all the committees following next week's general
meeting.

Jill Kuli reported seeing a vision of Pastor Stan at her hospital beside when she awoke following her knee replacement surgery, not the actual Pastor Stan.
