We are surrounded in fires and we are safe. Everyone I know living here is affected by this right now.
Palos Verdes is safe. Redondo Beach where I live is safe and is where people are coming to be with family.
This is a 5 billion dollar disaster for California.
Six degrees of closeness. We are a close community. Whenever the earthquakes hit we check our neighbors right away. People out there need to know...California is full of America. Full of people who came here to live from somewhere else. I am from Kentucky, Texas, and Florida. I am not sure what order to type it in. Texas parents, Texas relatives and homes in the other states that I grew up in. My relaives are calling to see if I am safe. Maybe the news in other states makes it seem the whole place is on fire. Malibu is North of us and San Diego is South and the mountain fires are all East. Our ocean is to the West . The sky is all colors. The cars and streets are all brown from soot and ashes by my home in Redondo Beach, Torrance my office and Hermosa Beach where one son lives.
People from Texas and Kentucky are usually still there. But California is a place of many accents, languages, cultures that came for some reason. I love it here and would never live anywhere else.
Yes the ground trembles and it is scary. Yes we have stuff here and best of all we have a culture just like your home town. Our culture is caring. We are an active bunch that will roll up our sleeves and reach out with our arms and help. My tears today are for the lost animals. I cannot help it or contain it.
Get your photos on cd's keep your passports and improtant documents somewhere easy to get. Take a movie video of your home and film things you might want to see if it all changed. I am going to make a movie of the china from my grandmother in Conroe, Texas, and the watercolor my great great aunt painted. This way I can make that photo journal and leave a story about it for my family. I am the holder of those stories.
