hi Karen Anne! Yes there is a lot of talent - and creativity at work on these sand sculptures! The amazing part to me is that various local teams build them with some guidance from "master sculptors" but with often no previous experience. And the results are so amazing!

I love going down to Sand in the City on the Friday when the teams are feverishly working on their sculptures - and then back over the weekend to see the finished amazing results!

REALLY cool, Nancy! I am always amazed at artistic ability as I have absolutely NONE! Sand sculptures appeal to all ages, unlike other forms of art.

Hi Debe! Their appeal does kind of catch everyone who sees them - I went to see them with my four yr old granddaughter and she was laughing out loud at characters she recognized!

Nancy, I know we have events with sand sculptures in Virginia Beach but have not attended it yet. This gives me an idea of what I am missing. That is really incredible. Thank you for sharing your great photo.

Hi Kathleen. I'd never seen sand sculptures "live"until a few years ago at this Olympia event and they really just blow me away. So now I don't miss the annual Sand in the City!
