Thomas The Tank Engine Visits Lebanon September 9-11 & 16-18 2011

Lebanon Mason Monroe RailroadIt's almost time for Thomas The Tank Engine's annual visit to the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad in historic downtown Lebanon!

Featuring Thomas the Tank Engine on one end, eight cars to ride in and the LM&M locomotive on the other end, this is one of those events guaranteed to be a HUGE hit with the little ones!

With two sessions scheduled (September 9 through 11 and 16 through 18), you've got plenty of opportunity to catch a ride on this special train!  Starting at 10 a.m., trains run every hour until 3 p.m.  Included in your ticket price is a 25 minute ride on the train, a visit by Sir Topham Hatt, storytelling, a performing playing Thomas the Tank Engine songs, and more.  With toy displays for the kids and a bounce house or two, they're going to have a blast!  With all the events associated with the train ride and at Runyan Field, organizers recommend allowing 2-3 hours total!

The YouTube video from one of the 2010 participants gives you a great idea of what the day is all about!

Tickets are $18 for ages 2 and up.  Events are rain or shine.  Purchase tickets at the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad website or call 866.468.7630.  Advance purchase is HIGHLY recommended!

The LM&M railway station is at 127 S. Mechanic St. in downtown Lebanon, just a bit more than a block south from Golden Lamb.

We hope you have a great time!

Good morning Liz and Bill,

This should be a very well attended event..how fun!! The video is excellent in portraying the fun they had. We just rode several trains in Switzerland and Germany and they are so so smooth and the countryside is amazing..just taken for granted as that is their form of transportation!

Hello Liz and Bill,

Liz & Bill,

What a great opportunity for kids and parents in Southern Ohio.  My grandkids saw Thomas in Cleveland a few years ago and now the youngest love Darth, but that could change before Halloween.

Have a good holiday weekend.

Scott, Just a matter of time probably before they move onto the next theme :)

Roger, Tyler was certainly having a great time!  The YouTube video was perfect to illustrate the day's events :)

Brenda, We've driven by before during these events and they get a pretty good sized crowd!  These special theme events are the LM&M's bread and butter.

Dorie, Did the same in Japan, those bullet trains really have a smooth ride, you'd not realize just how fast they are except for the blur of the countryside!

Christine, This visit is part of a tour, so Thomas certainly makes the rounds :)

Tatyana, Definitely a great family event!  Hope you have a great weekend too!

Mary, Kids can change their likes in a hurry can't they?? :)  Hope you have a great weekend too!

Anita, Wouldn't be surprised if they sell out some of these runs despite having 8 cars per run.

B&L - If only I live closer I'd bring my two nephews. They love Thomas the Tank and to see the real thing would be the highlight of there month, maybe year. I'm sure there will be a big turnout - Thomas is popular everywhere kids are!

Hi Bliz. I guess I must be old school, since I was not familiar with Thomas the Tank Engine rides. I know both kids and parents would enjoy that event in your area. I love the Johnnie Cash music in the video presentation. It brought back of a few memories.

Peter & Linda, Riding the trains is fun!  My mom grew up in a West Virginia lumber town that still runs a tourist train during the summer/fall months.  It's must a beautiful ride up the mountain and back!

Kristine, Checked the schedule and no dates in NJ remaining this year.  They visited Phillipsburg NJ in early July, so maybe they'll be back next year.

Jerry, Thomas is one of those things that showed up LONG after we were kids, now a marketing juggernaut!  The Johnny Cash song was cool, the maker of the video did a pretty good job putting it together!

Deborah, I didn't realize until researching the event, but they make a national tour with quite a few stops across the country and Canada too.  Pretty much every weekend from spring through fall is booked.

Funny my boys weren't into trains but my granddaughter loved Thomas and would always make me read her the book.  Kids have such a connection with Thomas and I'm sure they'll love getting a chance to ride the train.  I know I would! :)

Donna, Based on the crowds we've seen in the past, Thomas has quite the appeal, and when you mix in the days other events, no reason it shouldn't be a big draw.

BLiz - what a cool event. There is something about trains that fascinates, especially young ones. And to get to ride as well - what a bonus! You always have a handle on the neat things going on in your area.

Aaack, not getting email notifications for some of these comments!

Jeff, The train here does a pretty decent business all summer and fall.  Really nice to have an attraction like that home based here.  A couple of years ago there was some rumbling about moving to Mason permanently, but fortunately Lebanon city government stepped up to the plate and made sure it stayed.

Renee, Didn't Tyler look like he thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing? :)
