Kathy -- good for you! Good old-fashioned activism at its finest. Hope your efforts make a difference...one flyer at a time.
Kathy that's a great idea! I can see your point, BTW, about not posting pay it forward for points. We're inspired by points but not necessarily should all things be pointed. I like the group and have posted much but for personal reasons decided to not continue. I love what you posted!
Good for you Kathy getting out there and trying to help your community! I haven't joined the pay it forward group yet, because number one, not sure if I do enough good things to help people out and then when I do, I feel kind of weird tooting my horn about it :). But...I really have been giving some thought to doing it, because it can encourage me to reach out on a continual basis.
Good luck with your efforts to keep this open Kathy, it would be a shame if it closed.
I love that you got out there and did that. It is so much a part of you and what you do and your lifestyle, I can't imagine having that taken away. Best of luck, my friend.
Kathy ~ Passion is often what moves us beyond our comfort zone to do the unthinkable! You did just that by canvassing the boardwalk for support. It was a bold and powerful statement to who you are and what drives you. I think it was a lovely way to display your footprint in your nature-like surroundings. I hope your efforts, regarding saving Green Cay Wetlands, are noticed by the 'powers that be.' Right on girlfriend!
It's always admirable when you have a passion for something and then you go out and fulfill it. I hope the Green Cay remains open and they recognize you for your efforts.
Good morning, Kathy. I have to agree with what Craig said. Follow your passion. Hopefully, they will find the money to keep it open. Maybe then too, the private sector will be able to kick in a few $$'s as well...
Thanks, Kathy, for sharing your story. All of us need to take an active part in our communities. I hope your efforts are successful.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend and be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments.
Kathy,
This is exactly the type of leadership people expect when they agreed that they wanted change. Kathy, you embody the right stuff that makes a leader. I'm sure that was not your intention when you started out on this mission, but your passion paved the way to having the courage to put yourself out there and as a result, others followed.
I am proud to call you a friend. It's because of ActiveRain that I go to know you. I have suggested this post because you are a beacon of light for all to follow.
HIi Kathy, I hope that everyone is able to pull together to save Green Cay. Good luck and keep us updated!
Kathy, so glad you stayed out of jail. (Husbands offer good advice - generally) You are a leader in your community and a giver - two very important qualities. They are what make you a successful human being and business woman. Proud of ya.
Kathy, sounds like you are a community activist and that is great-I have walked Green Cay when I've visited my dad in Delray and it is really beautiful-I hope you efforts make a difference and thank you!
Kristine- thank you so much. The COWBRA group (I'm not a member) is a pretty strong force (lots of voters) so I hope they'll have some pull.
Michael- yes, and you know, that's how this country was built.
Cathy- I don't like to speak about what I do... just not who I am but I do hope others will be inspired to find their passion and go for it.
Brenda- This was my first post of this kind. I'm much more comfortable talking about others. It's a good group, though, because it encourages to do those random acts of kindness that we all need.
Gabe- thank you... next time you're down here give me a buzz... I'll give you a tour.
Mimi- Many thanks. We didn't like it when they closed the boardwalk for a week for repairs! Can't imagine what we'd do if it were closed for good.
Mel- thank you my friend. I'm hoping everyone that walks and enjoys Green Cay will write and show them we need for it to stay open.
Craig- There are so many people who are working on this. If it stays open... I'll be a happy camper.
Michael- As of now the Nature Center has 1 FT and 1 PT employee. The rest is staffed with volunteers. There have been suggestions on our part to pay for parking (meters). I would hate to see an admission charged because there ar so few places that a family can go today that are free.
Roy- have camera... will travel.
Patricia- I'm not really... as my husband says.. I'm like a gnat that you can't get rid of!!! LOL I'm glad to call you my friend as well.
Amy- thanks, and I will!
Debb- thank you very much. I am more of a behind the scenes person.. you know..like the Wizard of Oz! LOL My husband was happy to see that I did not annoy nor aggravate any of the walkers!!
Joanna- Oh my!!!! Please call me if you're down this way!!! Coffee or Adult libation are on me!
It's never easy to put yourself out there like that, especially when they aren't strangers!
Sharon- you have a point. I guess I'd rather fall flat on my face in front of strangers! Have a good Labor Day weekend.
Kathy ~ We really hope your efforts are able to keep Green Cay and the Nature Center open ~ Good Luck!!
Hi Kathy--all I have to say is "You Go, Girl". No, I have more to say. Nothing happens until someone makes a move. You may change the whole outcome of Green Cay Wetlands. Writing about what you did inspires us. Keep us posted on this--I'm cheering for you all the way!
Hiya Kathy-you are so awesome and squeaky! I love to see people really get involved in THEIR communities! Good luck to you on this latest project.
Timing is everything. Good example of community involvement. Good luck!
