Well, we won't be making any money on this one but we will both be sleeping really good! We have been working with a family that was about to loose their home in Port Charlotte. They were already several months behind on the mortgage and had a second mortgage with the same company. I wrote about this before.
2007 was a really bad year for them: two deaths in the family, travel expenses to funerals up north, contributions to the funeral expenses, air conditioning had to be replaced, and BOTH the husband and wife had their hours cut dramatically!!!
They were in a beautiful home that they bought in 2005 at prices well above what the home is worth today! They called us to do a short sale. Well, Bill has been in the financial world for most of his life, so he was determined to save this home from going under! With some tutelage from Bill before he left for Europe, I contacted the mortgage company..............again and again and again and again....................most of those calls left me on hold for up to a half hour! And most of the people gave me a royal runaround!
BUT then I got in touch with a HUMAN BEING who actually wanted to help! Together we discussed all of the problems and all of the possibilities. I asked that the second mortgage be totally forgiven and the original mortgage be restructured and the monthly payments be reduced to something affordable. I also requested that the late charges be added at the end. This way the family can stay in their home, the mortgage company is not dealing with another empty house and loosing money - it is a win-win for everyone!
Well, my client called yesterday and is sending me a testimonial for my records. She is one happy camper!!! The loan is being restructured and it looks like all of the things I requested are being done! Needless to say, I am pleased!!! I told her to keep in touch and if there are any twists or turns, let me know and I will get back on the phone again!
And Bill will be so happy to hear the good news! This family gets to keep their home!!! Life is good!!!!
It's so nice to hear a success story! Congratulations!
