Where can I find the best crumb cake in the world? B & W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ.

That's right! Since 1948, the siren's song of crumb cake has lured loyal aficionados & future devotees of the crumb right to the door of  B & W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ... "Home of the Heavy Crumb Cake"

B & W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ

The original owners, Boehringer & Weimer (B & W), ran a classic, German-style bakery whose products are the same today as they were 63 years ago... delicious, addicting, and safely guarded when it comes to the recipes. Just the B & W bag is enough to stimulate the same response from those in-the-know that Pavlov got from his dogs!

B & W Bakery's shelves are packed with all the delectable delights you'd expect from a top-notch baker like pies, breads, tarts, cookies, and cakes...

And, it's all deeee-licious! But, if you say the words, "Best crumb cake" to most folks in the northern New Jersey area, B & W Bakery is the split-second response. I'll break down & tell you a quick story... (For this story, I am NOT Brian Morgenweck!) When I was a little kid of about 10 or so, I had 3 paper routes in Teaneck. Most Sundays, I would start my routes about 6AM with my supermarket shopping cart that we in the newspaper delivery biz used to refer to as "loaner vehicles".

After getting about 150 or so big, heavy Sunday Record newspapers to doorsteps all over northern Teaneck, I would get on my blue Schwinn bicycle with the banana seat & ape-hanger handle bars and peddle to Hackensack with the big newspaper bag slung over my shoulder (way too cool for a basket on that way-cool Stingray!) I'd buy a heavy crumb cake & always a few other treats like their apple turn-overs & head home to enjoy the fruits of my labor with my family.

Years later, my Dad taught me (...actually I busted him & learned) how to never miss a crumb when the cake was all gone. You see, there are always big crumbs left in the bag...so you tilt the bag & tear off the bottom corner & Voila!... a crumb cup! Alright, enough of my secrets...

Wave good-bye, girls! ...Awww, at the end of the day, the poor things are so tired from lifting all that heavy crumb cake, they can't even pick up their arms... :-D

Get over to B & W Bakery at 614 Main Street in Hackensack

for the best crumb cake on Earth!

And tell them BergenCounty365 & TheJerseyScene say hello!
