Managing Photos and Getting the Most Out of Them

Over the years I have accumulated a number of quality photos. I know how to use them in virtual tours and I know how to use them in some of my custom work, but I feel that I am not getting their full benefit.

I know there are some social media applications that may help, but I do not know where to start.

Here are a few things that I would like to accomplish.

  1. I want the photos to be place geographically at the location where the photo was taken. In many cases I have GEO Coordinates for them, but not always.  Many of my photos will not work for an Address GEOcode as they are off named roads with no addresses.I would like my photos to show when searched as Google Pics.
  2. I would like to control how a click through is processed.
  3. In the case of a thumbnail, I would like a click-through to open a new window with a larger version of the photo. I would also like the option to take the user to a new webpage or blog article.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

John - I'm so very NOT techie that me answering you is laughable, but I have had experience in making a thumb nail click through to a larger photo. Only on my own websites, however. I'm not sure how it would work if you didn't have control of the HTML.

Do it the same way you add a link to some other page. It would look kind of like:

<a href="http://www.pagewith photo.com/photo.jpg"><img src="http://www.pagewith thumbnail.com/thumbnail.jpg" height ="100" width ="150"></a>

You could use the same method to take someone to any page you want. Just use the <a href="http://www.wherever.com"> before the thumbnail and then close it with </a>

Thanks, Marte, for your comment. I know enough html to know how to use what you posted. It will save me considerable time in doing the improvements that I want to make.
