Fair Oaks, Ca is a charming community on the banks of the American River, upstream of Sacramento. Over 100 years old, it has one of the few Old Towns in the Sacramento area, plus beautiful neighborhoods composed of craftsman and traditional homes.  And chickens?? Yep, we're known for our wandering chickens... a few of whom you will hear in my introduction!

I hope you enjoy this tour. Fair Oaks is a great place to live!

Not only wonderful localism, but also a great video!  Chickens were, in fact, noisy! ;)  Hope you have a terrific day.

Karin - glad you liked it.  I'm sure Denver has beautiful homes, as well.

Mimi - Glad you stopped by this morning. Yes, the chickens were in their usual form.  Glad they didn't have a fight while I was filming.  The first take, I started cracking up at their raucousness... raucocity??? Anyway, they were noisy.

Sally, I think my favorite is the shot with the turkeys in front of the mansion!  What a charming tour you put together.  I could live there.

Pat - I love that one too.  I sold that home two years ago and the owners have become very good friends. The turkeys are all over our community - and when they land on your roof, you think  you are either being burglarized, or Santa has arrived!

Super video Sally. I feel like I did a walking tour with you around Fair Oaks. I like the chickens and that the area is not cookie cutter. On the river makes it so tranquil too. An idea for a future video on Fair Oaks would be talking about the economy, where people get the jobs to afford these beautiful homes. I would be curious what people do for work in this area so they can move here. The homes are so very, very lovely in all the neighborhoods. Beautiful architecture and the trees are gorgeous. I like using the circling on the maps too. You are the perfect narrator and host and the video was very welcoming to the town. Have a great holiday.

With all the trees in Fair Oaks, CA I would feel right at home.  And I love how different the homes you featured on this tour are.  From what you've presented, Fair Oaks doesn't seem to be the land of cookie cutter homes.

Wow... Nice video Sally. What a beautiful area. Thanks for the wonderful tour. I've driven through Sacramento a few times but I had know idea there were such beautiful rural areas. Yes, to answer your question, I would love to come home to a landscape as beautiful as many of the homes have in the Fair Oaks Village area in your nicely produced video.

Love your use of maps (ditto Gary above) and that the homes are all so unique. Very cool presentation, you nailed it! I'm looking forward to more.

Gary - Thank you so much.  Is Fair Oaks ALL like this? No.  We have our cookie cutter neighborhoods, and tracts, but I'm obviously showing the best. Just like a fashion model photographer, you don't show the warts, or ugly streets, or boring homes.  Making this, I realize how many different production facets I have learned about - mostly here at ActiveRain. Like the circling of the areas on the maps.  Learned it here.  And inserting the copyright symbol.  And uploading to YouTube.

And the economics are interesting.  Our prices have dropped by half over the past 6 years. We've had record setting foreclosures, and are a "short sale city", but why focus on that?  We've got beauty and tremendous opportunity here, too.  It's funny.  when people are moving here from out of the area, they all want Granite Bay, because that's where they see the highest school scores and read about the buzz.  I'm out to sway the masses to Fair Oaks.

Chris Ann - As you can see above, we do have our cookie cutter homes, but I'm showing what I LOVE about Fair Oaks.

Rene - Hey buddy - did you see all the copyright symbols on each photo?  Thanks to you.  I've become a photo-mama-maniac.  My picasa albums are bulging with homes and scenes from the entire Sacramento area.  Thanks.
