This weekend Leah and I headed off to the Renaissance Faire kind of last minute. Barbara had wanted to join us but since the weather had kept interfering and we kept putting it off unfortunately she wasn't able to make it today. The weather didn't look that great but we figured what the heck - we would have fun no matter what. It didn't rain thank goodness but wow was it hot!
What a great time we had! We saw tons of people (not employees) dressed in the garb of the Renaissance era. I started to realize after awhile that we were in the minority since we were not dressed up. Later when we were leaving we realized there was a costume contest going on, hence all the costumes, even children.
We saw a jousting show, knife throwing act, a comedy act, the wedding of Robin Hood and Maid Marion with a battle in the middle and much more! The Faire was packed, there was something going on in every aisle and there were so many interesting booths.
The Renaissance Faire runs every weekend until the end of September. We had a great time - you will too!

Hi Debra, This looks like a fun event and you must have had a great time. Loved the slide show. I have never been to one of these events as yet and there are several of them conducted here in the county. I must make it a priority, it would fun to have a collection of photos in this category.
* Here is one benefit and a tip for those with DSLR and some point and shoot cameras. Switching to manual focus on your camera, many times you can manually focus right past the wire cages to the animal ( birds in this case). u get a photo of the animal and not the cage ( or at least not as much, perhaps a bit of shadow affect minimally. )

Deb -- I am so sorry I had to miss it. I was thinking of you at my nephew's party. We were down by the shore and it was HOT!. All those costumers must have been pretty warm as well. Maybe I can catch this next time around. I'd like to take one of those boats up the Hudson that you mentioned on another post. Haven't done that in years.
