Welcome to ActiveRain!  You will have a blast!  Don't be afraid to blog...At first I was very worried about what to write about but now I just have fun with it.

Reading other blogs will help give you ideas too, we're not all business all the time!   ;)

Welcome to blogging!  I am new myself having been a member for less than a week. It's overwhelming and exciting at the same time. I have already made some new contacts and everyone..even my competitors.. has been receptive and helpful.  The commenters has given you some great suggestions.  What makes most sense to me is the repeated comments I have read about blogging about your community and keeping your  content directed toward your target market. Don't try to be everything to everyone. Informative and interesting vs. self promotion.

Even though I originate loans throughout the state of Florida, I've decided to put the majority of my posts on Localism and target the county and city I live in. I alternate my posts between information that a mortgage shopper might be interested in and community news/ happenings. I throw in some personal stuff now and then so people can learn about who I am. 

There's a lot of tips about tags and SEO...I've implemented some of them, but for a newbie I'm concentrating more on content..have to crawl before I can walk LOL

Hi Jan,  Welcome to Active Rain. I would suggest reading, reading, reading, commenting, and being active.  Read the intro stuff by Jeff and Brad which is very helpful.
