For the record, NO egg-laying, poisonous, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammals from South of the equator, were hurt in this story.

Ok, I should probably give a bit of background on this one, I was hanging around with a bunch of friends one night and one of them piped up that global warming is just ridiculous, we could not be having that much of an affect on the whole earth. If it is happening it is just a natural cycle and there is nothing we can do about it.

Now these are people that I have known for quite some time and we often just throw these things around as brain play, we do have a wide spread of outlooks and mine is on the green end of the spectrum while his… well not so much (but he is a great guy). Anyhow his statement worked, it got me going, so I countered, that whether we are causing it or just helping to speed it up, If it’s going to “do us in” don’t we want to do what we can to counter it instead of pushing it along as fast as we can?
He went on to argue that global warming is just a “theory” and that to believe in it is just to accept some “words from some scientists” and “their graphics”.

Well I couldn’t hold back, I pulled out the “big guns”, I said to him, “So I gotta know, have you ever seen a real live DUCK BILLED PLATYPUS?” He said sure he knew what that was. I clarified my question again, “No, Have YOU, seen one with your own eyes? Not do you know what one is.”

He stopped, “No, I guess that I haven’t.”

“Well,” says I “you obviously believe in them, right?

“OK” says he, “What do they have to do with it?”

“Well, I don’t know how they will or will not be affected, but I have seen them with my own eyes, and you are just believing “WORDS FROM SOME SCIENTISTS AND THEIR GRAPHICS!”

Now, as someone who protects other people’s best interests for a living, this story has more than one moral.

In a situation where you could do the easy thing and maybe nothing bad will happen or work a bit harder and make sure that some bad thing that might or might not happen doesn’t happen, I want to be one of the people that is at least trying to keep the bad thing from happening. See it does relate to real estate!

And secondly, don’t argue with me. I might just come up with something so far out of left field that you would never see it coming!
