How long does it take to grow a papaya tree on Maui?
I never thought of growing a papaya tree here in Pinellas County but after reading this, I am certainly going to give it a try!
After all, I already grow avocado and litchi nut trees, so why not adding papaya since I love the fruit!

These young trees took about 1 year after planting into the ground as small seedlings, in Haiku Maui. Normally you plant a few plants in each hole and thin them out as they grow. You need to see what kind of fruit each tree bears and select the best plants. As they grow older the trunks will get thicker and stronger, and the trees will bear fruit for years before they get just too tall to harvest reasonably.
The ideal fruit for market in Hawaii is the solo papaya because it's a single serving, or two. You can grow many varieties of papaya rather easily in Haiku Maui, including some that will feed a large family, for a few days!
