One of the things Southwest Louisiana residents enjoy and love about living in Lake Charles, LA is the variety of events and festivals throughout the year.

October 11th the Great Acadian Awakening will take place in Lake Charles, LA

Just because my last name is Boudreaux does not mean I know the history and culture of my husband's Boudreaux roots!

 The mission statement of the Great Acadian Awakening is  "To awaken the population of Louisiana and the world, primarily those of Acadian descent, and in particular our youth, to the realization that while we have made positive strides, the French language, culture and coastal lands of the people of Louisiana are in danger. We are seeking support, partnerships, solutions and concerted plans of action through these large gatherings."

 

This event promises to be a fun schedule of cajun music and food and more.  The Great Acadian Awakening schedule of events includes Cajun story telling, genology displays, french culture,  Cajun food specialties like Boudin, and Cajun bands.

One of my favorites is Chris Miller and the Bayou Roots.  You can listen to some of the musical clips by Chris Miller and the Bayou Roots   There is just something about Cajun music that makes you want to tap your toes grab your partner and do a Cajun Two Step around the room!

 

 

I have known Chris Miller for many years.  Musical talent comes naturally for Chris.  Chris Miller is also the Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles, LA and the Choir Director at Barbe High School in Lake Charles.

Come experience the Acadian culture and pass a good time at the Great Acadian Awakening, October 11th at the Lake Charles Civic Center!  Or as we say here in Southwest Louisiana........Laissez les bons temps rouler
