Text Messaging – Love it or Hate it
You Gotta Love It! Text Messaging....That Is!
Belinda Spillman talks about the love - hate thing we all may have going on with text messaging. I was a hold out for a long time on this, but caved in at the request of a client! When a client says "do you text?" my answer had to be YES!
You bet I do it if is what my client needs/wants! I have been converted, well mostly, but still like the voice to voice at times and the longer email options.
Life in the fast lane....text messaging is here to stay. I enjoyed Belinda's take on it. Thanks, Belinda for a good post, worth putting out again.
Text Messaging – Love it or Hate it
Many of you younger folks may not know this, but we haven’t always had text messaging. In fact, I remember when the first cell phones came out. I had one and boy was it heavy. It was a big black leather case with a brick in it that was the actually phone. It still had a curly cord attached to the base, but I could take it anywhere and I was so proud.
Today, there are so many choices with cell phones and technology. I have a Blackberry which I have had for just over a year. The buttons are looking a little lopsided from texting so darn much. I told my husband that I need a new iPhone, but he says I must wait until February. I will muddle through until then.
My husband just bought a new Droid and is so impressed with all of the functionality. He was showing me how you can use a voice program to dictate your text messages in to the phone. Color me NOT impressed.
I told him if he was going to dictate the text message, then just call the person. I know that is so yesterday, but really?
He mentioned that I am the queen of texting and can usually text without looking at the screen. I told him no one wants to talk on the phone all day and this was a simple way for me to communicate.
I have to admit, it is invasive when people text you non-stop and want to know what you are doing at any given time. It makes it hard to just exhale at night and relax at times. It is times like this I select the SILENT button on my phone so I can check text messages when I feel like it.
Apparently my car has a feature where it will read the text messages to you while you are driving. Not loving it! Nothing can be that urgent on a text message. I would rather enjoy my Sirius radio and get to the text when I feel like it.
