With the Closing of a Transaction, My Pledge's Are Honored . . . Pay It Forward

Throughout my RE/MAX career, I have always been a Miracle Agent. That doesn't mean that it was a miracle if I sold a home. Being a Miracle Agent in the RE/MAX System, means that I choose to make a donation to the Miracle Home System from the proceeds of my commission.

These donations are used to fund special programs at the nearest Children's hospital, which in this case is the Children's wing at Hartford Hospital. All donations are used locally, and are used wisely. All donations will have a card sent out to the person we designate.

I take an equal amount and donate to the Susan G Komen Foundation. This is to fund a cure for breast cancer, which hits very close to home for me.

As the Komen Foundation send nothing out, I end up sending a letter to my clients, letting them know that a donation was sent in their name.

I have sent out a lot of letters over the years, because the donations have totaled thousands of dollars. My clients are appreciative, but more importantly, I feel good.

Ed -- You've chosen excellent charities to donate to, but your way of doing so is the best way to do it.  Too often we forget to make a donation, or we say we will or intend to, get so busy and forget that as well. By having a deduction taken automatically, you are consistent and it's already done before you get your pay.  Just like a 401K; you don't think about what you don't see.  It builds up fast and is relatively painless.  Smart move on Re/max's part. Equally smart of you as well.

Ed, me too.  I've been with RE/MAX for 7 years and started donating the first year.  We're proud of our office's record for giving to the Children's Miracle Network.

Cindy, I started them up 8 years ago and have been going strong ever since. Thanks for stopping

Thanks, Anna there are a lot of great deserving charities but these 2 just resonate for me.

Hi Any, this platform is all about giving ideas to others to improve their business, etc.

Barbara, with my current brokerage we do it ourselves, so it requires a bit more discipline, but as I was already accustomed to the donations, it wasn't that difficult. I have accounts at both of those charities now.

Kay, this is just another way that RE/MAX shows that they care. Other brands probably do similar we just don't hear about their efforts

Ed - What a nice way of paying it forward.  And what wonderful causes you've chosen to make part of your regular giving.

BTW I enjoyed meeting up with you once again at Dagny's this evening.
