Oh No! An invite to yet another event. What a waste of time... or is it?
Wasting time trying to figure out whether the event I've been invited to is worth spending time never mind money on is really starting to get under my skin. I mean really.. how many of these promotions, events, trainings, social gatherings, charity events etc can one person handle without ending up with no time to actually BE PRODUCTIVE!
What criteria do YOU use as you sift through the plethora of email enticements, facebook invitations, tweets, friendly reminders and repetitive junk that comes your way? It seems to me that taking even a couple minutes to review each invitation can eat up my entire day so I stopped reviewing them at all and simply skip past them rejecting all requests by default. Is that the right approach? No, I don't think so.. in fact I'm sure it's not because I for one am willing to admit that I need to learn more every day to stay at the top of my game. Practice, Education, Sharpening the Saw, Getting that one key Nugget from a speaker, whatever you want to call it, it is vital that I take time on a regular basis to
Recharge, Relearn, Learn a new skill, Listen to those who have come before me and MODEL their behavior if I want to achieve even more success than I have already. Then there is the
Motivational seminars which are a ton of fun but are they worth it? Heck Yeah! for the fun if for no other reason but honestly, if I don't USE what I've learned at any of these, what's the point? The point is (yes, i talk to myself and answer my own questions... who else will?) .. the point is that even if I don't use 90% of what I learn, that 10% might just push me into the next level of success. If I use even more
bonus! but how do I decide which events to attend if I get so many invitations that it is simply impossible to read them all?
Creating a Trusted Circle, is this the answer?
After careful consideration and spending a significant amount of time going back and forth about this, I've finally realized that perhaps the best answer is to put my time into reading only those invitations from a Trusted Circle of friends, business associates etc. and that is how I've come to write this article and recommend to you an all day event that is coming up on October 3, 2011 in Randolph Mass for under $40 (or just over $115 for VIP). Before I get into the details of that recommended event, notice I gave you the date, location and cost first because this is the very first thing I want to know as I can immediately say NO if it doesn't fit in my schedule for some reason. It may not be good "marketing" strategy where you build up the event describing all it has to offer and lead the reader into more and more information and only THEN give them the bottom line details but I'm tired of that approach and want to change the way I do things.
So why have you wasted your time reading this entire article?
Was it a waste of time? I hope not. I hope that you agree we can come up with a formula for finding those key events that will do us and our businesses the most good by allowing our friends and associates to make recommendations that we will listen to. Eventually, we will begin to understand more clearly whether or not a particular friend is consistently recommending events that are actually good for us!

I hope so. In my trusted circle is David Hill of the Hill Team at Keller Williams Realty. If he recommends something to me, I take the time to look into it further before deciding whether to attend or not. In my trusted circle is Jairek Robbins, a powerful mentor and coach I had the opportunity to meet some time ago as he developed his Rapid REsults Program. In my trusted circle is Seth Campbell of Keller Williams Realty whose rise to success I witnessed first hand.
All three of these people have recommended to me, this training in Randolph on October 3, 2011. All three will be participating in the event themselves. Even more models of success will also be participating and I am looking forward to meeting them. What about you? Will I have the distinct honor of meeting you there?
