GILDA- I Don't Leave Home Without Her!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

Anyone who knows me, or has ridden anywhere with me, knows that I am directionally impaired.  For that reason alone, driving around Atlanta is always an adventure!  Several years ago, I was on my way to a meeting in Midtown and after making a wrong turn and getting caught in theater traffic, I called my ever-patient husband, who, for the umpteenth time, patiently guided me to my destination.  When I got home that night, there on the kitchen counter sat the marvelous little instrument that has made my life (and that of my husband), much easier!  I think GPS had to have been invented just for real estate agents!

Since that day, I don't go anywhere without GILDA (Guided Instrumentation for Linda's Daily Adventures)!  I love pushing the button that says "Go Home", after navigating from house to house with a buyer or visiting an Open House or Agent Caravan.

I was just reading Teresa Boardman's St Paul Real Estate Blog, noticing that she has named her GPS "Miles".  Mine is affectionately called "Gilda".  A friend refers to hers as Dora (She drives an Exlorer.)  So, I am wondering, does everyone name their GPS?  Do you find yourself answering that little voice?

Safe Travels, Everyone!

Hi Linda,  I haven't named my GPS, but she is my "best friend."  I can usually find my way home if there is sunshine--but here in Seattle there isn't enough and in the dark, it is a lost cause!  I will have to think of a name.

Hi Linda. I know exactly what you mean, although I never named mine. However, I put it on even if I go around the block. The best inventiion ever. I don't talk to it eighter, but I do talk to myself all time. Good, funny post.

Linda - I should get a GPS because I am also directionally impaired however the direction I can get from the Internet works well.

Thanks for the welcome to KW

At the moment, I do not use a GPS system. I probably should, because once and a while I use mapquest and it isn't the greatest system to keep me on the right path.

Linda, it's funny how dependable we become on these things, right now we're giving one away in our email newsletters only because we know the value of them.

I like her name!

Hi Linda: I believe our husbands are alike. I, too, used to call my husband for directions -- because he's always chained to his desk at work, so I know he will answer the phone. He calls himself "map boy." But he can read maps while I generally hold them upside down. He bought me a GPS, too. Mine is called Sylvia. She's British. She keeps me calm when I'm freaking out because I am lost.
