Clackamas County this week has announced a burn ban because we have a week of very unusual high temperatures and very dry weather. These two things combined with very low humidity have been a recipe for wildfires. This burn ban isn’t the normal burn ban either, this also included backyard fire pits and campfires.

Burn ban in Clackamas County

So, please be safe out there and keep the matches in the junk drawer until next week when the burn ban is over.

It is amazing that we have not had more fires after the good rain this year.

All the states in the west and southwest need to be extremely carefull and let's all  pray that the fires in Texas are extinguished quickly.

Good morning Todd,

Great blog and reminder for folks in your area...just take a look at what we are battling here in Texas, and no further words are necessary.  Fire

Good reminder Todd.  At least the winds have shifted and we're not under smoke like we were last week. Although, I suppose that could change...take care, and thanks again for the organizational efforts on Tuesday. It was a pleasure to meet you and a fun afternoon.  Dj

So true - a great reminder for everyone.  As a former reporter, I covered way too many fires caused by the simplest of mistakes.  And I also wanted to thank you for all your work in putting the meet up together.  Great food and great people there.  Thanks again!

I hope everyone listens and obeys. Nothing worse than when people just don't pay attention to the danger in front of them.

HI Todd, if they want to know the importance of putting out fires, just remind them to take a look at Texas this summer, a lot of the fires were natural, but some earlier in the summer were not.....great reminder...

Todd, when I see neighbors doing burns in dry weather I shudder...kids camping not realizing the need to drench a fire, etc.  all one needs to look at TX & AZ and wish for rain, rain, rain...good message for all.

The cool down this week has really helped the fire fighters get the upper hand on some of the fires that have been going on here in Oregon.
