Writing A Script...
In continuing my series, IF you are going to do video, the best and only place to start is with a script. Plan first, on paper, what you intend to say. Not many have the ability to "think on their feet" and get it right the first time through. I hope you find this short video helpful.
If you have any specific questions, email me at radnorlakephotography@gmail.com. If, I like your question I will use it in one of my segments.
The video content for this post has also been placed on my website, RadnorLakeVideo.com. I will be posting the entire series on my site. If you should miss a lesson click on my How To Video Blog Series from the home page.
This is exactly what me and my marketing manager (daughter) do when we shoot our subdivision videos. It makes for a better product (IMO) and keeps us on track with what we want to say and how we want the video to flow. A 2 minute video doesn't seem like much, but there is much prep work that goes into creating one, and since it may be the only opportunity you get to make a positive impression on a potential client, getting it right is very important..
Hey Michael-enjoying your series. I have been in front of the camera doing commercials local and national since I was a kid and am comfortable being directed. The home shot vids with me as actor and director are proving more of a challenge as I can't be the cameraman @ the same time. This however may be my control freakish issues:)
Good morning Michael,
Great points! It is important to know and practice what you are going to say! As you say Practice makes perfect!! Great series..keep them coming.
Michael, after I recover my web site over to my new hosting venue with the missing data completed I am ready to start practicing...great pointers and as they say practice will make almost perfect! thanks
Michael, it should be no different that writing those papers we all hated doing in high school. We were told to put down the high points of the topic first, then arrange them in a proper sequence, and lastly fill in the blanks. The last part is where I always came up short.
I am putting pencil to paper each day and creating a nice little guide sheet for my sis and I to follow! I am learning something new each and every day thanks to these videos and I highly anticipate the next.
Did you ever think of training other videoographer wanna-be's? How about traveling to do a video?
Should I be standing so I don't slouch or will I move too much? Gotta run Michael. Have a great day! Thank you for putting so much work into this and sharing it will all of us.
You couldn't be more right with this tip Michael. It's so important, especially when the camera is rolling to have your thoughts carefully planned out. Keep this series coming my friend. This information is invaluable.
Thanks for the series Michael! I'm coveting your Apple computer I see in the background!! Writing and script and practicing should make the video shoot go much easier!
Hi Michael~ I am really getting excited to step into the video age.
I have waited far too long.
Thanks for the encouraging series that will catapult many of us into today's most powerful marketing arena, the video!
(scripted by Judi Boad) :)
Michael,
Great tips. I am practicing right now, really I am. I am about to head to a local radio station and record a radio ad. It really has the same cadence and wording parameters.
Michael you are terrific ..I enjoy watching you and the thumbs up was great
How you say it is just as important as what you say. Plan it, write it, practice it, pace it, then perform it! Great post, keep them coming. Enjoy your day!
Just like in the movies...you best know your lines. In your case target points with a clear description. Practice makes perfect.
Hi Michael...Like you New web site, Well Done. This is a great post on planning a video, good idea, help us make a video more successful for sure.
