Crofton Village Garden Club members discover the art of flower arranging

By

Several new members of Crofton Village Garden Club got together in late August for an informal workshop hosted by Sunny Frank in her back yard.  Sunny and Bernie Robertson shared basic information about flower preparation with the novice floral designers, and guided them through the creation of three different arrangements.

Participants paid for their flowers and containers and brought a bag lunch, so there was no cost to the club.  It was a beautiful way to enjoy the calm before the storm, as Hurricane Irene headed up the coast for arrival the next day.

At least one of the participants was heard saying she had never created her own flower arrangement before, and others were grateful to learn new ideas from some of the best flower designers in the club.

If you're interested in learning about flower-arranging, gardening, community beautification, and conservation, there's no better place to learn than a local garden club - and Crofton has two of them.

Margaret, that sounds like a fun way to spend an overcast day!

Margaret,

Someone asked me how to meet people and grow their business.  Your post reminds me that we have so many different spheres of influence available to us; we just need to step out on faith and make it happen!

Margaret, I am the secretary for the Lewisburg Garden Club...I believe we have five garden clubs in this small town.  It is fun to partiipate in the garden club and hope other women will think about joining one in their area.

I really like the white arrangements, what a nice way to brighten things up before the rain.  I'm really only good at growing weeds :(

Pat, the best way for new members to put names and faces together is to participate in something like this.  I think they really enjoyed it.

Mike, that's so true.

Rebecca, that's amazing.  How big are the clubs?

Wanda, the "older" members did a similar arrangement in a margarita glass a few years ago with carnations that were died green.  It's an easy fool-proof arrangment to make.
