My car lease will be expiring in November and I had planned to return the car to the dealer rather than buying out the lease or trading it in on another newer model.
My wife noticed an ad in the newspaper that said 'Lease Expiring?' Don't give money back to the manufacturer. After reading through it I decided to do a little research to determine the current value of my car. I was surprised to learn that the market value was quite a bit more than the residual value on my lease. Now, my plan is to shop the car around a bit to see if I can sell it for more than the dealer wants for it's return.
If you have an expiring auto lease, think about selling your car in the open market rather than just dropping it off.
