ROLAIDS® disappeared from the shelves late last year. Store after store, the search was fruitless... ROLAIDS® were gone! They had been Recalled in December 2010. What to do? Tums? Gaviscon? Prilosec? Prevacid? No, thanks... I want Relief, and Relief is spelled R-O-L-A-I-D-S. Will Johnson & Johnson / McNeil ever make ROLAIDS® again?
Announcement from ROLAIDS® on December 9, 2010
"McNeil Consumer Healthcare is voluntarily recalling all lots of ROLAIDS®... in the United States. McNeil is taking this action following some consumer reports of foreign materials in the product, including metal and wood particles... we have suspended production of ROLAIDS® ..."
The Financial Papers were quick to pick up the Story.
Bloomberg had this to say:
"Johnson & Johnson... said it was withdrawing 13 million packages of Rolaids soft chews after consumers reported finding metal and wood particles in the products.
While the risk of serious health effects is 'remote,' consumers who have purchased Rolaids... should stop using the products, J&J’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit said today in a statement."
Good News! ROLAIDS® will be back on the Market soon!
So, what to do NOW after eating that Large Pepperoni Pizza, or doubling down on a Plate of Spaghetti?
Are there Alternatives in the Meantime?
Costco's Kirkland Signature Antacid
Okay, I love Costco. It is my favorite store. You will find me there 2 or 3 times per week. But * in my opinion * these do not get the job done! Too sweet for my taste, and I still have heartburn.
The label says, "Compare to Rolaids Extra Strength Ingredients". The basic ingredients are the same, but the amount of Sucralose in the tablets is way too sweet for me. Again, No Thank You.
What about Tums?
ROLAIDS® will be back soon!
ROLAIDS® disappeared from the shelves late last year. They had been Recalled in December 2010. Fortunately, McNeil Consumer Health Care (a division of Johnson & Johnson) is working to get ROLAIDS® back on the Market.
How do you Spell Relief? R-O-L-A-I-D-S!
