A Thankful Thursday, Parking on the Right Side!

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties Licensed in Connecticut

I awoke today to flooding, everywhere. Out came the barn boots as there were pools of water outside my back door and all over the walkways. The driveway had a swift flowing river rushing down, at the deepest parts I measured a foot... Looked like the Colorado River snaking through the Grand Canyon... until it changed to the Mississippi Delta at the bottom of the driveway.

And you might ask, what is there to be thankful for on Thankful Thursday? Well, my car was on the "right" side of the mighty river, I was able to drive down the grass and get out of here!

And not to worry, the bucket loader did a fine job of repairing the damage. Until our next round of rain!

Now what's that song? Rain, rain, go away, DON'T COME AGAIN FOR A FEW MORE DAYS!

Andrea... I've heard on the radio.. and have seen on TV how you've been clobbered with so much rain.  Thank goodness you were parked on the *right* side of the road.

This is better than getting out of the wrong side of the bed.  LOL.

I agree, the grass looks great, but those ruts will be horrendous when the water dries!

Andrea - That looks like the driveway to my house when I lived in Clinton but I wasn't fortunate enough to have green grass to drive down.  If the rain keeps up you're going to need a boat instead of a car to get down the driveway!

P.S.  Everyone was asking about you last night and we all wished you were there with us.

Andrea, that is a lot of water.  So awesome you could come from a place of gratitude though.  When we think of our circumstances, we can always find a silver lining in every cloud.... we just have to look for it.

As long as the "river" is flowing away from the house!! Can't believe how much damage the rain can do to driveway. It really does look like the Colorado. Hope the sun is shining there this weekend.

Good for you to see the silver lining, I think there always is one, sometimes just hard to find!

Valerie, you are sure right about that, getting up on the wrong side of the bed is not good, and I am glad I was not parked on the wrong side here! I am getting used to it though, LOL.

Jim, another thing to be thankful for, green grass... very true. Missed you all too, but a family matter made it impossible. :(

Evelyn, everyone needs a bucket loader! :D

Donna, if we get anymore rain I will get a kayak! I missed you guys, :(

Kathy, what you think is the river is actually the road, LOL.

George, I got out, I have a great pair of boots, I'm good to go!

Vickie, my dog is liking it too, he found his own personal water "bubbler".

Nina, nah, it went in the house, as usual. There is so much water here, it is bubbling up from the ground. But it has slowed, and it will stop.

Janna, sometimes it is hard to find, but that was very obvious, LOL.

Andrea - a blessing indeed that your car was on the RIGHT side of the road!  And I wish that Louisiana and Texas could get some of that rain!

I would like to meet you sometime!   My parents used to live in Litchfield, and I drove through New Milford all of the time.  That was before I knew of you.  A shame....

Louise, next time it rains I will box some up and send it to you. Although... I could go out in my yard and collect some. We still have rivers coming down, I have no idea where the water is coming from, but it is coming an coming. I am almost at the top of a hill, no brooks or streams above me, but I do have little geysers that have popped up all over the place. :D

Dagny, I was bummed out for sure. Seems that whenever I have something planned for me, other stuff gets in the way. But there is always the next time! And thanks for the recipe!
