TIPS AND TRICKS: RealBird and ActiveRain
We love using RealBird to promote our listings here on ActiveRain. The user-friendly RealBird platform allows you to input your listing data and pictures quickly and then provides you with the HTML code necessary to post it right to your blog. It comes complete with a slide show, Google Map locator, your contact information and so much more. So what’s the frustration you say???
Well let me tell you!! In order to post the listing you have to switch from the WYSIWYG mode to HTML. For those of you who are wondering what that alphabet soup is all about WYSIWYG stands for “What You See Is What You Get”. In other words - type it on the screen and (hopefully) that’s what it’s going to look like when you’re done. The acronym HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language - the primary programming language used to write content on the Web (in other words, that code stuff that includes lots of < > and /)!!
So, you copy the code from RealBird, open a new blog post, switch from to HTML, paste the code, save your work in draft mode and switch back to WYSIWYG to finish up. And then you see this . . .
Now you understand the frustration, right?? Well fret no more - here’s how to fix that!
Now that you’re back to WYSIWYG and that cute little box, save your work in draft mode again. Then simply click EDIT again and, when you do, your box will open up in the normal size!
No more frustration!! No more little box!! But do me a big favor, if you already knew this and I am the LAST person on earth to figure it out, don’t tell me!!!
Happy Blogging!!
