"I will see it when I believe it." These words from well-know writer, Dr. Wayne Dyer, hold enormous truth for your real estate success, and in fact for everything in your (and my) life. A belief is just a thought that is repeated over and over again in your mind. If you are not repeating thoughts of success over and over again until they become your belief, then you will not see success.
The Law of Attraction rules our universe - - how often do we repeat statements like: "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer", "birds of a feather flock together", and "success breeds success." Positive thoughts and words bring more positive thoughts and words and manifest into positive results. Sounds so simple- yet, we struggle to "make it work".
It takes time and practice to REALLY think positive thoughts because we are surrounded by so much negativity and have been raised in a world that stresses negativity. How many times have you said to yourself, "OK - positive thinking . . . I am going to make choices and decisions today that will result in a great sale." Fine - - except the little voice in the back of your head is whispering, "Yea, sure - - in this market?"
Sometimes we need to take baby steps to get to the point of truly thinking positively and attracting the success we want. Here are some proven techniques:
- Just as successful athletes mentally visualize their performance, you can take time to visualize the positive outcome you want in any situation. Before you go to your next listing appointment, visualize the sellers signing the contract. See them smiling, feel the appreciation, feel the handshake, etc. Repeat this visualization daily.
- Think in terms of "now" and not wanting for the "future". For instance if your thought is, "I want new clients who are a perfect match for my business", you are really focusing on the fact that you are lacking new clients and you will attract more lacking. Change your thought to, "I attract the perfect clients for my business."
- Uncover your self-limiting beliefs and change them. Take time to visualize and feel yourself as the successful agent you want to be. What is your typical day like? What car do you drive? What does your office look like? As you create this picture, is there a little voice nagging at you saying "but"? But it really is not good to be rich, but maybe my friends won't like me if I have a lot more than they do, but I'll have to be a cutthroat person to be successful, etc. etc.? This little voice identifies a self-limiting belief that needs to be changed.
This is a tiny bit of information about using the Law of Attraction for your success and there are books upon books written about the subject. One of my favorites is Ask And It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The learning continues for a lifetime, but the three steps above are a good start. The most effective reinforcement is to share success stories with each other. Use the three techniques daily and then come back to this blog and share your experience. I really am interested and we can create our own "proof" that this "Law" is a good one for real estate!
