What to do in the area?

Genesee has 12 miles of hiking trails, 4 Tennis Courts, 2 Pool Facilities, Work Out Facility with aerobic and weight machines and a racquetball court.  There are many Organized Clubs, Teams and Leagues.  A few examples are the Tennis Leagues, Swim Team,  Hiking Club, Book Club.  Please look at http://www.geneseefoundation.org/ for more information.

What Schools Serve Genesee and the I70- corridor communities? 

We are fortunate to be located in the excellent Jefferson County School District.  Ralston Elementary School, located ½ mile north of Exit 254 on I-70 .  Bell Middle School and Golden High School serve the area and are located in the town of Golden.  The Jefferson County School District provides excellent bus service both to and from these schools with several conveniently located bus stops.   http://jeffcoweb.jeffco.k12.co.us/

What about Phone, Internet and Cable Services?

Simply call Qwest Communications or Comcast residence services to request new service or transfer existing service.  You may choose either a private or a party line; with all call options available to you.  Unlike many mountain communities, Genesee does have a Denver  exchange.  Therefore you may call the Denver, Boulder or Castle Rock areas without paying any long distance charges.

What about Water and Sanitation?

Genesee is served by a Colorado special district, located in Jefferson County, Colorado, about 15 miles west of downtown Denver. The District was created pursuant to Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes, known as the Special District Act (the "Act"), for the purpose of providing water and sanitation services, including a water supply, treatment, storage, transmission and distribution system and a sanitary sewer collection and treatment system, for the inhabitants of the District

Riva Chase is served by the Forest Hills Metropolitan District, which as an operative 250,000 gallon water storage tank and a waste water treatment facility meeting all state and county requirements. 

What about Fire Protection?

We are served by both the Idledale Fire protection District and the Highland Rescue Team

What Retail Businesses are Near?

You will enjoy easy access to a variety of businesses at the Genesee Towne Centre (I70 at exit 254)  including restaurants, a beauty salon, travel agency, florist, veterinarian, liquor store, dry cleaner, ski and bike rental, convenience store, gasoline and a dentist.  The retail area is continually growing, including a fitness center with weight training, spin classes and aerobics.

Is It Far to Major Shopping Areas?

In addition to the excellent retail businesses listed above, it takes only 10-15 minutes to get to other numerous shopping areas.  These include Bergen Park in Evergreen,  being completely renovated.  Colorado Mills Indoor shopping Mall,  Applewood Marketplace,  Golden Downtown and Bellmar Center at Alameda and Wadsworth.

What About Public Transportation?

RTD (Ride to Denver) has Park and Ride services from Exit 256 and 254 on I-70.  Service is available to 6th and Simms/Union, downtown Denver and Evergreen with connecting service to anywhere in the Denver Metro area.
