I really loved this post, and some of the words could easily be used for so much: "Home is where your story begins," "Let's be quietly respectful."

Our Stories Start at Home - Quietly Respectful

We all know it’s a buyer's market. There are lots and lots of houses to choose from. And, chances are most of them are filled with sweet memories that can't be seen by the naked eye.  After all, our stories start at home, let's remember to be quietly respectful.

Recently, I thought about a few of the memories of my past homes.

Our Stories Start at Home - Quietly RespectfulThe dining room and table that served as the centerpiece for many birthdays. The dining room and table that served as a centerpiece for many homework assignments.

The hallway where my son learned to walk. The same hallway that led to my exit the day I left, with two boys in tow, for a new beginning.

A spot on the driveway where my sons built their skateboard ramp.
A spot on the driveway where my son’s first car leaked oil.

The balcony in the tall foyer where my boys dropped their GI Joe’s with parachutes.
The balcony in the tall foyer where my boys dropped their sister down with a rope. (Not endorsed by mom!)

The living room where we spread out climbing gear for a trip to Smith Rock. The living room that hosted many evenings with family and friends.

Our Stories Start at Home - Quietly RespectfulAnd recently, I’ve thought about the memories that belong to our current home.

The room where I gave hugs to my daughter when her first true love broke her heart. The room where I gave hugs to my daughter when she broke his heart back.

The dings in the hardwood floors from grandchildren dropping hard toys. The dings in the hardwood floor from a husband dropping things as he cooks in the kitchen.

A sunny dining room filled with with visiting family members. A sunny dining room for quiet dinners for two.

Buyer's,  it's important to get your next house for the best possible price. . However, it's important to remember - buyers and agents, that a home’s true value to its owners is often in the memories. After all, our stories start at home, let's be quietly respectful..
