Jackson County, North Carolina offers a number of really fine subdivisions, but I think one of my favorites is Sylva Vista. I posted an article the other day about the sense of community Sylva Vista exhibits, but today I want you to know how convenient it is to the Town of Sylva. It’s wonderful that a subdivision like Sylva Vista can boast privacy, views AND convenience to everything you might need on a daily basis.
Less than 10 minutes from Sylva Vista’s entrance is grocery shopping at Food Lion, movies at the Quin Theater, ice cream & coffee at Jack the Dipper, health care providers at WestCare Hospital, ABC Liquor Store, pizza at Nick & Nate’s, other restaurants and shopping in downtown Sylva and Jackson County’s new pride and joy - our gorgeous new public library.
Speaking of Quin Movie Theater in East Sylva Shopping Center, we saw “The Help" on Monday. We are so proud of the Quin Theater for bringing “The Help” to Sylva. The Quin has comfortable seats, friendly atmosphere, $5 large tubs of popcorn (with one free refill!), reasonably priced tickets…there is a lot going for it. Their movie selection in the past often concentrated on highly touted action films, dumb comedies, shoot ‘em ups, kid’s movies and “blockbusters”. In the not too distant past, “The Help” is the kind of movie we might have had to drive to Asheville to see. The night we went, the theater was packed with sensitive, kind and thinking people. All week’s showings were like that. Bodes well for movie future here in Sylva.
Okay, I digressed a little from Sylva Vista, but not really. This was a Sylva Vista kind of movie apparently. Everyone at the gathering had either seen the movie or was going to see the movie while it’s at the Quin. We all talked about the Quin’s concerted effort to bring these more artful and intentional films to Sylva. Kudos to the Quin! There aren’t enough adjectives in the world to describe how awesome and thought provoking this movie was. Leslie and I decided we could easily see it again today and enjoy it even more.
The last time I posted from Sylva Vista was in the spring. Yes, another visit with our friend. My topic was the Green Man and I was glad to see him again, this time donning his autumn laurel ready to greet the change of season. Sylva Vista is a perfect place to appreciate all of the seasons and types of weather our area has to offer. The glory of the physical changes in all of the seasons surrounds you with the variety of trees, plant life, elevation and those astounding views.
What a perfect combination of privacy, views and convenience to town. I take a selfish pleasure in any opportunity to show real estate in Sylva Vista, just know ahead of time - I always have the camera and I always insist on stopping for photo opportunities, so pack a lunch!
