If you're looking at a job in the Washington, D.C. / Northern Virginia area you can't ask for a better place to live than Winchester, VA.  Winchester is a bedroom community for the D.C. Metro area.  From Winchester, you can be in the Metro area in less than an hour, or at the beach in a few additional minutes and you have the awe inspiring views of the Blue Ridge Mountains to wake up to each day.  Take a look at the Wikipedia write up on Winchester.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester,_Virginia

Winchester is full of history from its founding through the Revolutionary War and right on through the Civil War.  One of Winchester's most unique claims to fame is that it changed hands 72 times during the Civil War.  You could go to bed in the South and wake up in the North, or visa versa.  Winchester tried to stay neutral during the conflict, but it was predominately a Southern community.  Northern General Sherman once said, "All the men in Winchester are at war, and all the women are the devil."  It appears that some of the local women who were more Southern than Northern, would stand on the sidewalk and spit on the Union forces as the moved through town.  They were spunky.  There is a wonderful Civil War museum in the old courthouse that chronicles Winchester's role during the war.

George Washington had a surveying headquarters here.  Stonewall Jackson had a military headquarters here, as well.  Both locations still exist as museums.  Admiral Byrd, Daniel Morgan and many other famous historical figures lived or stayed in Winchester to add to its flair.

Today, real estate prices are lower than the D.C. Metro area.  You can purchase radically more house in this area than just 60 miles away.  The overall cost of living is much less in the Winchester/Frederick County area.  Winchester is also a hub of numerous major highways.  That has made it a strategic location for industry and business.

If you're traveling up or down Interstate 81 in the near future drop in and see us.  We'd be glad to see you, and you just might like it enough to stay.
