Tyler Davidson FountainCincinnati Celtic Festival on Fountain Square September 23 - 25 2011

Are you ready for the return of the Cincinnati Celtic Festival?  Not just two days this year, but THREE!  But wouldn't you need at least three to cover the Celtic nations??  Wait, Celtic Nations??  I thought we were only talking about the Irish here?  Nope, the Celts are much more than that!  The 7 Celtic nations aren't just in the United Kingdom, but across the Channel too!  You've got Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Wales, Cornwall, Galicia (Spain) and Brittany (France).

And with FREE admission to this event on Fountain Square, you're going to have a great time!

This celebration of Celtic culture will be packed with dancing, music, food & drink!  And for the really hardy, they're having a Corned Beef & Cabbage Eating Contest Sunday afternoon!

And with so many nations represented, you can bet you're going to get a variety of music and dancing too!  So far, there are two stages needed to support the 28 groups scheduled to entertain you during the Cincinnati Celtic Festival!  And among the food vendors will be Claddaugh Irish Pub and Molly Malone's Irish Pub & Restaurant.

So WHEN do we need to head down to Fountain Square (intersection of Fifth & Vine)?

Friday, festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and the last entertainment goes on stage at 8:30 p.m.  And by the way, the Cincinnati Reds game will be broadcast on the Big Screen too!

Saturday, things get rolling around noon, and the last group is on the stage starting at 8:30 p.m., and for you multi-taskers, the Reds game will be on the Big Screen again!

Sunday, be back at noon (and this time the Cincinnati Bengals will be on the Big Screen), and the last group starts performing at 6:30 p.m.

Click Cincinnati Celtic Festival Schedule for the full schedule!

Below is a YouTube video of one of the performing group, The Kells, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday!

So if you're ready for another festival, then head down to Fountain Square for this Celtic celebration!

BLiz: Now really how much time do they need to cover the Isle of Man? LOL. The Celtic Festival sounds like a lot of fun and surely includes the heritage of a large number of people in the Greater Cincinnatti area.

Anne, I've been by the Isle of Man, but never stopped there!  German is the predominant Cincinnati background, but this area doesn't let a little cultural history get in the way of having a fun time at another area festival :)  I don't think I have any Celt in my history, but listening to some of the music for awhile is appealing!  Bill

Michael, I wish I could claim having taken the fountain picture, but it is another contribution from someone else who wanted to share.  It's one of the best we've ever come across for Fountain Square, so it stays in the ready to use folder for our Fountain Square related posts.

David, BLiz is fair game for all to use :)   The Festival should be a good time, and going from two days to three tells us there's some demand for it.

Andrea, Got to check our schedule and see what's going on that weekend.  You know the life of real estate, our "want to" list doesn't always match up with our "have to" list :)

Dorie, It's lining up to be a good weekend for choices.  That will be downtown Cincinnati, Lebanon is hosting the Country Applefest which is always lots of fun too :)

Ginny, I like the music, and a bit of it brings back some memories :)

Another well written localism post. I like that you added the video and free admission is always the best deal in town.

A couple of weeks away so folks can clear their calendars.  Sounds like fun...my husband would like it for the baseball game aspect (his favorite team is the Reds).

Hi Bliz, Representing 28 Groups to entertain for the Cincinnati Celtic Festival is quite a treat. I wish I could attend since I never had the opportunity to visit any of those Celtic nations. But, I will catch that Cincinnati Reds game on TV instead. Great Fun for the whole family that weekend.

Jackie, They've got a pretty extensive list of activities, should certainly be fun!

Dan, The wonderful thing about YouTube, there's often something pertinent to augment the post.

Brenda, That is quite the combo :)

Sep, You're welcome :)

Anita, A little extra even though they're all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.  Maybe next year!  Trying to do a few of the posts early than the week of when we can squeeze them in.

Jerry, It's certainly a pretty broad entertainment list, dancers & music both.
