I haven’t been able to run or race in over a month because of a broken toe. (My horse stepped on it.) So, I decided to visit the US Olympic Training Center, located here in Colorado Springs, in hopes that it would help me stay motivated.
No two visits to the Olympics Training Center are ever the same. If anything, there is a sense of excitement building up as the 2012 Games in London are quickly approaching.
Free guided tours of the US Olympic Training Center are currently held once an hour between the hours of 9-4 (Monday – Saturday)
According to their website, the Visitor Center hosts over 140,000 people each year.
On this particular visit, we caught the last tour on a Saturday evening. We were able to watch some of the boxers practicing but everyone else was pretty much done for the day. Even though I’ve never been a boxing fan it was still very interesting.
I noticed that the athletes are surrounded by motivational quotes. There are four on the wall in the picture to the right. There are fifteen that I counted in the picture below. This is just in one gym.
Based on the sheer number of quotes in the different facilities at the Training Center, they really must help inspire and motivate the athletes.
How do you keep yourself motivated?
