I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch this photo of Watson Lake in the Granite Dells area in the northeast side of Prescott.

Watson Lake from Peavine Trail, Prescott, Arizona

The Peavine Trail is on the old railroad roadbed that has been turned into a public trail. This photo was taken looking west close to sunset from the most extreme easterly point on the lake. The Aerial Photo below shows this pretty well.

The rock formations in the lake photo can be seen in the Aerial Photo.  When I was growing up, we often went to the Witchita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma. The rock formations consist of granite outcroppings and granite boulders in both locations.

Granite Dells is beautiful, your picture spectacular!  It's an excellent area to go camping as well.

Thanks, Michael, for your comment.  When I first moved to Arizona from Oklahoma in 1985, I lived in Tempe and Scottsdale but I became enamored with NE Arizona. Every time I had a chance I went north to Payson, Heber, Pinetop or Showlow. I love these areas, but when I made my first trip to Prescott in 2002. I moved to Prescott then.  I plan to live the rest of my life here. The elevation here is 5,300 ft and the temperature typically is 15 to 20 degrees cooler than in the Phoenix Area.

Looks like a really cool place to have a jet ski or a small boat. ( J )
