I did it! I did it! I did it! Finally, I reached 100,000 (plus some) points on September 12th, 2011. That's great, really it is. But you want to know a secret? I'm much more thrilled with the network of friends and professionals that I have met. I'm here because of you. Somehow the points, that used to mean so much to me, pale in comparison. So yes, it's a fun accomplishment. (And, it's going to save me a few dollars a month.) But, most of all, I am thrilled and delighted with the many new friendships and the support system that I have found in the Rain. (You know who you are! ) Hugs, and thank you. You did it, you did it, you did it!
Lurking around Active Rain for a couple of weeks in mid April, I became an official Rainmaker in early May. Therefore, it's taken me about five months of blogging to get to this first major milestone.
For those of you still see 100,000 off in the horizon - don't worry, it'll get here surprising soon. Here are few ways to make it happen faster!
Blog daily - try for 10 posts a week. ( But at least one a day)
Comment daily - more than your 10 point quota. You'll develop the relationships that are way more important than points. Those relationships will keep you here when you get discouraged.
Take part in the contests. They are a great motivator and create challenges that will help you sharpen your game. Plus, you get points. My points earned in the "Back to School" contest got me to the 100,000 mark a few days sooner.
Re-blog - I haven't really taken advantage of this, but I suspect I should utilize it more. It's a great way to connect with and promote others in the Rain.
Have fun! - It's important to find the experience enjoyable, if not, you'll burn out, or quit. Writing and posting should be an enjoyable part of the day. If not, think about why not. Chances are you're not writing about something you know - or writing from an authentic place.
Reach Out - If you need some inspiration or help - holler. Most Rainers' are the kindest and most generous peers you'll ever know.
