Active Rain Notification Subject: New Comment on your Blog Post
Normally when I get this e-mail on my Black Berry or if I am in front of my PC I get very excited and look forward to reading who sent me a comment. Since I blog, I find it refreshing when someone gives feedback.

About four days or so I received such an e-mail notification:
There's a new comment on the blog entry Century City Condominium Market Report for March 2011

Having received these in the past I was not too concerned, just disappointed. What followed after was hard to believe. I was averaging 30+ comments like these a day. Go figure it was the weekend and no one to help. I kept spending time notifying with the “concern button” each time. Time consuming it was. I wrote to Bob at AR since I did not know who to turn to. Bog sent me an e-mail how to fix the problem so I want to share that with you in case you have issues like this:
Endre,
The best thing to do if that happens is to go to the 'settings' link on the left hand side of your my home page. In that area is a little check box setting that says 'allow non-member comments'. If you uncheck that box and then hit 'save settings' it will stop the spammers from being able to hit your blog.
Then after a day or three, go back and allow them again and they will have moved on.
Needless to say I am anxiously hoping that this will solve it. Yes you might say you get 10 points……Take my word, notifying 37 times is time consuming and you only get a max of 100 points per day. Believe me you are better off not getting the spam.
So with that said if you are dreaming of getting an extra 100 points you are better off commenting on four posts you enjoyed reading. I prefer getting my points via writing a post or commenting, but not getting Spamed.
Also if you are not a Member of Active rain for the next few days you will not be able to comment on my Posts, should you like to communicate with me feel free to e-mail me directly.

Spammers are incredible in their efforts to spam people. You wonder if these people have anything better to do! Like-- get a job!
Endre - that's great information, indeed. The spammers have been getting peskier, for sure.
I have limited comments to members for ages. Stopped the shoe and cosmetic sales folks.
Endre, This is great information. The spammers have been extremely active recently. I agree with Lenn, stop the shoe and cosmetic sales!
Thanx for the tip Endre! I haven't had that much spam on my blog, but I have found spammers emailing me directly. Nuthin' one can do 'bout dat...
Stephanie, very funny:))
Randy, I agree, my recommendation is to hang them by their Thumbs:)))
Jennifer, I wonder too, what is accomplished by this? I guess they keep the IT guys busy:)
Juli, yes it was great information, hence I figured I share it with the community. BTW BOB is great about stuff like this:)
Lenn, I am not surprised you did this years ago:) I am always hoping and wishing that some of the readers who are not on Active Rain might want to chime in so with that said in a day or two I will open up the opportunity and see what develops.
Kathleen, I just do not get these spams they are not marketing anything, just strange comments? Oh who knows...
Mark thank you for your subscription, hope I am worthy of your time:))) The spammers think so:)))
Sadly spam is a fact of life on the internet. I just delete the offender and move on.
I had a wordpress blog on condos and i got hit with literally thousands of spams. We had to dis-able the comments section . Spam is time consuming as well.
Craig, now you have another option, block and unblock:)
Paul basically this does the same if you are not a member you can not comment. I agree it is the time consuming part that bothered me most.
Hello Endre and VB use to leave his posts/ blogs open for the public but the spammers stated bombarding me with garbage. Every once and while I will open my posts to the public and then switch it back, comments from the public that aren't spams are very interesting.
I have a WordPress website that gets around (200 spams per day), and I go through every one and delete the unwanted ones.
VB ;o)
VB:) so my minute 30-40 is not unusual, how sad....I like to leave it open as well so potential public comments can be received....
How funny just checked I had two comments.... SPAM:)))
But dude! THat's 370 FREE Points! Ok, maybe not so free since it takes time.. but I just landed your 2 spammers 20 points for me! LOL
Tammy glad you are getting "points rich":)))
