Paying it Forward..Turning Off The Gas
When showing other agents properties it is also our responsibility to report anything that might not be right at the property.
I showed a vacant house that was staged and the gas fireplace was burning. At first I thought that it was a nice touch for our showing since it was staged.
As we left the property the fireplace burning wouldn’t leave my mind.
As I returned feedback to the listing agent I asked her if the fireplace should be on.
She said “NO”.She also said that she lives about 1 hour away from the property so it might be a day or two before she could turn it off.
Since I live 10 minutes from there I told her I would go turn it off for her.
She was very grateful since she also was leaving town and having to go back to the property would delay her leaving town on time.
It was good feeling to help another agent...made my heart smile.
Good for you Chris and Patty. I have shown homes with the fireplace burning and always assume it is for the showing.
That was so nice of you! I does feel good to help others out, especially since the next time you might need help. That was thoughtful of you to make the comment to the other agent, sometimes I cannot get just feedback on properties. A great pay it forward
Maria, the lit fireplace probably was for your showings which is great is the owner are comig back to monitor it. This property was vacant and staged but it still made me a little nervous.
Kym, Feedback is hard to get. It's part of our business to help each other. I certainly would want to know if something is wrong with one of my listings. We don't have time to check on listings so "A little help from our friends" is a blessing.
Maria, Please excuse the 2 typo's. Spelling is a strong suit of mine but proof reading is not.
